Re: The decision to pick McCartin.
Why on earth would Sydney recruit a diabetic who can never reach elite fitness levels?
They must be stupid.
They must be stupid.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

Meanwhile Petracca is looking at a seven year 900k deal.

Is it the same Aaron Black that played for Norf and the pussies?
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

What are you on about ?
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

I thought it was obvious.
But if you need explaining, you took the blood sugar defense and decided to make fun of it.
But good on you for rhyming whack with whack.

Fair enough mate.
I think I am just getting tired of shots being fired at Paddy for having an auto immune disease.

Re: The decision to pick McCartin.
But he was always going to walk to Collingwood, right?
That's what the "insiders" keep telling us.
Well he's leaving the run a bit late now!

Re: The decision to pick McCartin.
Just to rub our recruiting atrocities in some more, Petracca signs a 7 year deal with Melbourne. The way he is going this year he will win the Brownlow also.
Plus 2018 we take Matthew Parker #47 & Hawthorn take Jacob Koschitzke #52 who looks for all money will be a 12 year player for them.

Re: The decision to pick McCartin.
The decision to take McCartin was an unmitigated disaster. It was that at the time, and now it's even worse.
But perhaps the cloud had a silver lining.
It highlighted the need for drastic change at the club. So when Lethlean came in, he could have a clear vision of how our recruiting was failing.
Let's say we pick Petracca, it may have papered over the cracks in our recruitment.
If you look at the past few years, our drafting and player recruitment has improved enormously. I'm still sick that we picked Paddy, but you have to hope that some good came out of it. And I think it did.

Re: The decision to pick McCartin.
To add insult to injury, they let it be widely known that Petracca had failed his psych test. "In three years I'll be at Collingwood anyway" and all that.
Covering their arses. And failing miserably even at that.

Re: The decision to pick McCartin.
Lewdogs would rather have Petracca on our list and take the risk on the recruiting team. That sought of error costs club premierships and haunts club for decades eg Buddy & Roughead.

Re: The decision to pick McCartin.
Yes, quite bizarre to link that being the catalyst to improve our overall list management, all thanks to Lethlean. So now we not only fail with picking #1s, we fail in our recruitment of "big fish".Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 05 May 2021 4:57pm Lewdogs would rather have Petracca on our list and take the risk on the recruiting team. Both cost, just in different ways. Some tangible, others financially with their own ongoing liabilities when it relates to list management.

Not sure Buddy and Roughead have haunted Richmond for decades.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 05 May 2021 4:57pm Lewdogs would rather have Petracca on our list and take the risk on the recruiting team. That sought of error costs club premierships and haunts club for decades eg Buddy & Roughead.

Re: The decision to pick McCartin.
Our recruiting recently has been a big success. Look at last year, Hill Jones Butler Howard and Ryder. Arguably the best trade haul in recent times and sent us into the finals.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Wed 05 May 2021 5:49pmYes, quite bizarre to link that being the catalyst to improve our overall list management, all thanks to Lethlean. Re: The decision to pick McCartin.
Yes, arguably is the best precursor for it. However the fingerprints over the Hannebery deal will be his legacy as the five you mentioned rise and fall with the tide of win / loss. Not just on here but the media as well.lewdogs wrote: ↑Wed 05 May 2021 5:59pmOur recruiting recently has been a big success. Look at last year, Hill Jones Butler Howard and Ryder. Re: The decision to pick McCartin.
Yes they did improve the list, but they need sustained sucess to win a flag. This year we are most likely going to miss the finals?lewdogs wrote: ↑Wed 05 May 2021 5:59pmOur recruiting recently has been a big success. Look at last year, Hill Jones Butler Howard and Ryder. Hill is completely over rated & over payed.
Ryder will be lucky to play out the year and we still dont have a replacement.
The same recruiting team have had as many misses at the draft as they have had sucess stories, so I wouldnt be rating our recruiting that highly.

Re: The decision to pick McCartin.
Why would Ryder be lucky to play out the year? Looks in great form and condition, reckon we'd be hoping to get at least two more years from him.Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 05 May 2021 6:22pmYes they did improve the list, but they need sustained sucess to win a flag. Obviously we need sustained success and improvement to win a flag. I'd argue we improved again through Crouch and Higgins. May miss finals this year but improvement isn't always linear. Look at Melbourne.
Anyway my original point was that the Petracca miss was absolutely awful, but maybe we've improved in our drafting and recruiting since then. I guess that's still up in the air, but I think the club is moving in the right direction now.
And I'm not writing off this season just yet.

I think the club has improved it's trading for players, i'm not so sure it's drafting of players has improved, look at Sandy, there's some proof right there.

Re: The decision to pick McCartin.
Christian stops by Hannebery's coffee shop and wellness centre: Hi CP, should have called before signing. Don't tip your manager, I could have got you same money and you wouldn't have to play. How good is that. Give me bell in 7, unless you plan to do a Grundy, that's not a bad plan b.
