Brad Hill - rebounding back
Brad Hill was absolutely outstanding tonight. 1 %ers and pressure acts galore, and caused absolute havoc running off the half back line.
His best game for the club by a country mile and answered a lot of the critics who were calling for him to be dropped.
Hopefully a turning point in his St Kilda career. Well done to the man.

Re: Brad Hill - rebounding back
Now he just has to keep it up. I thought he turned the corner in the West Coast game and then he was a useless passenger for the next two weeks.
If this is his new standard then he's absolutely worth the money.

Re: Brad Hill - rebounding back
He was tremendous. And whilst I love seeing him turn on the afterburners out of the middle, those smothers and defensive acts were inspiring.
Was confidence inspiring with ball in hand last night - did not miss a target and did not look like missing a target.
Kudos.

Re: Brad Hill - rebounding back
I watched him from the stands.
He played much closer to the contest which suits him better.
He has great explosive speed. Not many would beat him over 20m.
However his top speed is relatively slow. He gets to top speed fast, far quicker than nearly all other players. However I would consider his sprinting speed as pretty slow.
I think that is why he has struggled this year. He doesnt have the speed over distance to burn off his opponent. Or his cruising speed (eg speed searching for space) is similar to other players, therefore he is struggling to get space and thereby not getting enough opportunities and making errors when he has it.
Closer to the contest he can use the explosive speed which is his main weapon

This is an interesting opinion - although it is wrong! check this link Fastest players AFL 2020repta wrote: ↑Mon 03 May 2021 2:45pm I watched him from the stands.

Maybe he gets free and then has the luxury to slow down and think - when he is on-song that is - and then deliver! Obviously doing this type of performance consistently (vs-Hawthorn) is what we hope for!
This is a team game and there is no room for individuals who think they are above walking through the fire.

Re: Brad Hill - rebounding back
I was unable to attend the match in person (Golden wedding anniversary!) but saw the replay. That smother by Hill was inspirational, both for his playing colleagues on the field, as well as the supporters. I thought it was splendid to see both Brad Hill and Zak Jones playing so well! Long may it continue! Go Saints! GO!!!!!!!

Re: Brad Hill - rebounding back
His pressure was excellent all game, lots of run downs to pressure the kicker, hassling etc. Then was able to run away from packs and set up a lot of attacks.thejiggingsaint wrote: ↑Mon 03 May 2021 10:00pm I was unable to attend the match in person (Golden wedding anniversary!) but saw the replay. Hopefully a springboard for both Jones and Hill as you say!

Good on him.
"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

Errrrrrrrrrrrrr the REASON for the celebration was due ENTIRELY to me "picking up A chick"!!! August 29th, 1970: The Cabbage Hall Hotel, Anfield, Liverpool 4. I walked in, and there she was! Here we are now, two daughters, and four grandkids later!!! still together, just a couple of kids with a crazy dream!!!minneapolis wrote: ↑Tue 04 May 2021 2:02amJig,thejiggingsaint wrote: ↑Mon 03 May 2021 10:00pm I was unable to attend the match in person (Golden wedding anniversary!) but saw the replay. Went well again,
need more than 2 in a row to expunge what went on in previous 30 odd games.
Good on him and hope he's turned the corner!

Re: Brad Hill - rebounding back
Yeah I’d say he’s doing the minimum required in that regard at the moment.
And he was ok yesterday without being great.
He has the opportunity to play well and take a big scalp next week, along with the other 21 players.

Went pretty well yesterday
Has not played 30 odd poor games, that’s a ridiculous comment
He has played poor to average with some good games

Re: Brad Hill - rebounding back
Where did I say he had played 30 poor ones?
What he had played were 30 that did not live up to his pay packet, and one great and one good one does not make up for that!
Go back through player votes over last 2 seasons and I reckon last week was the first time he made the votes, not great for a bloke on his pay rate!
