Huge game this week
This week I think will tell us more about this group /season than the following 2 against high profile teams.
We have traditionally struggled against GC and they were very good against Collingwood. They have a good list developing with experience workers ( not stars ) through the middle. If we can go there and come away with a hard fought win it will set a platform, but if i had to do my tips today would probably pick GC as seem more consistant.
No changes to a a settled line up will be nice.

Re: Huge game this week
No Witts for them is a help to us. We've never played them in recent times without Witts - who is a quality ruckman.
Ryder and Marshall should dominate.
Collingwood's midfield is down and their forward line is a joke at the moment.
If we bring the same intensity and work ethic to the Gold Coast, then we should win.

We need to win two of our next three to get our season back on track.
Conversely if we lose to Suns, that will most likely be the season over.

Re: Huge game this week
Beating up on a terrible Hawthorn won't mean anything if we turn up with a Essendon/Melbourne/Richmond/Port like performance against a decent team this week.

Re: Huge game this week
The midfield will need to be even more switched on against GC. The Hawks were lacking good players, but still seemed to get a bit of the ball around stoppages to their advantage, just couldn't follow up.

Ryder and Marshall should be able to get on top. Big advantage coming into this game, hopefully means our mids can get on top.Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Mon 03 May 2021 1:02pm No Witts for them is a help to us. We've never played them in recent times without Witts - who is a quality ruckman.

History suggests result will be less than 6 points. Higgins to play the part of Gresham.

Re: Huge game this week
We seem to struggle with playing well 2 weeks in a row.
Last year was a weird one, we backed up well.
I really don't expect us to win, I think we lose by about 5 goals.
Just hungover from the big win over the Dawks, the team will expect things to happen.
Expect quiet games from Jones and Crouch, Butler too

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Re: Huge game this week
Actually, its likely to be a standard size game of significant importance. If we still harbour pretentions to a finals match in 2021 that is. And the yo-yo of emotions phase we are in means it is. Game and % behind team in 8th spot which plays a demoralised Hawthorn. Go effectively 3 games behind the pace would be a hard margin to catch even for Winx (horse not player; metaphor).

Pretty simple really bring the effort & the rest takes care of it's self. Doesn't mean you win but it gives you a much better chance

That spot 8 has to be the teams target now.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Mon 03 May 2021 7:50pm Actually, its likely to be a standard size game of significant importance. That means not dropping matches to other teams competing for that spot.
Fremantle,
Gold Coast,
GWS,
Carlton,
Adelaide
are all advantaged if a game is dropped to one of them.

Has Joyce done enough to hold out all of McKenzie, Frawley and Carlisle ?
