Not sure what you mean.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Tue 27 Apr 2021 12:32pmIt's a bit different being able to run free on the wing and through the middle to Full Forward, let's be fair.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Tue 27 Apr 2021 10:26amI am not sure about Maxy.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Tue 27 Apr 2021 8:40amSpot on! Never has our lack of spread from the centre been more evident than in these 3 huge losses. Each Port midfielder led their opponent from the guts.bigred wrote: ↑Tue 27 Apr 2021 12:25am Combination of a congested F50, or even F25 and a generally poor forward structure regardless.
King needs to run at the ball more, but the issue is that there are 14 other players in our F50 because we are so slow and shyte with our ball movement.
But we are breaking down in the guts just too regularly and our insipid lack of run is generating even more of these shyte entries.
No question he needs to work harder.
Much, much harder.
Then once the ball was in their possession we could not get it back. Not only were we zoning, we were slow across each line. No wonder we couldn't get the ball back.
As a defender, defensive winger, what is wrong with the old 10, 2, zero instruction depending on where the ball is on the ground? With 6, 6, 6 this makes even more sense.
Look at Essendon. They’re not much chop, so far.
Look what they have already unearthed in young Cox.
200cm.
He looks about 18.
Can’t have played a dozen games.
Look what he is already doing for them.
Why can't King do what Cox does? Play on a wing and swing forward, swapping with say a Higgins or Sinclair and mixing up our forward set up.
I would suggest our predictability has hurt us.
Can Maxy do it? He is agile and mobile.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Question about King?
Right now I am guessing Essendon wouldn’t swap Cox for Maxy even if it was for free.
So Maxy will kick ten this week...and silence our rumblings..

I can't believe how some get distracted by the shiny new toys as they toss their others out the cot. Almost like our recruiters who drafted Frost.
Cox appears very good, being touted as the future in midfielders. Let's revisit this in 2025.

I actually think he needs to spend half a season at Sandy.
Learn and encourage him to dominate and be “the man” at a lower level
Will take him 3 times as long to learn that at senior level.

Thats gold.
What you can do with too much time (and money).
Not sure if the comparison is good or bad now... one thing for sure is that it could be a hell of a ride !!!!

Re: Question about King?
I watched Plugger in his first few senior games, and had a lot more aggression at the ball than Max, worked hard to get in front and and looked every bit a natural key forward in the making then, but Max doesn't look comfortable as a KPF. Get him up the ground and moving around.leighsaintsince66 wrote: ↑Tue 27 Apr 2021 3:20pmPerhaps a better comparison is with Tony Lockett as both are full forwards.B.M wrote: ↑Mon 26 Apr 2021 1:12am Thilthorpe took 1 game
And he is 18
The biggest concern is his total lack of aggression and presence!
Roo might have had some other talls, but make no mistake, he was the number 1 banana.
He took 256 marks in 04 was AA centre half forward AFLPA MVP and B&F and he did this as a 21yo
He was the best forward in the game, probably the best player in 04
Max is almost 21. At the age of 21 Tony won a Brownlow Medal and kicked 117 goals.
Notwithstanding that the StKilda team of 1987 was not the best.
Let's wait and see how Max performs at the same age. Best wishes Max...

Showed some signs today
Kicking is a worry
It’s like a soft little 4 Iron
Needs to be more like a full 6 Iron

Re: Question about King?
He was ok today nothing special but still contributed & contested all game I think we expect too much from him at such an early stage but I'm confident he will only get better with more game time & more conditioning

He needs a lot more muscle and lot more fitness. He gets out of breath running out onto the ground.

A solid four quarters by the big fella. Very good in the air, excellent at ground level.
Only his 23rd game tonight and he is a key position forward. I'd highly suggest people get off his case for fear he will make you look like fools.

I remember watching Plugger in his first game he was playing in the forward pocket and kept getting in the way of our marquee full forward Jacko...spert wrote: ↑Fri 30 Apr 2021 10:33amI watched Plugger in his first few senior games, and had a lot more aggression at the ball than Max, worked hard to get in front and and looked every bit a natural key forward in the making then, but Max doesn't look comfortable as a KPF. Kicked one of the great points in the 4th quarter with his athletic recovery and great groundwork.
Deserved a goal.

Re: Question about King?
23 games I’m not even worried
He’s still getting hands on plenty
I’d like to see him lead up more and kickers on it as he’d be unstoppable
