Hickey - We had to bring in Ryder because of this call. Now with a fit Ryder and Marshall he wouldn't be required. He would have been useful at the start of the year because of the injuries but not now they are back on the track

Bruce - He seemed to be a whipping boy at our club. When things werent going great the club seemed to pick on him. It was probably attitude off the ground, but it always seemed a bit strange. We completely stuffed his game by putting him in the Ruck

Hind - Very poor coaching. I dont remember him ever run off the half back line for the saints. Was useful and I thought he was going to get pushed out the the Saints best 22. Shame they didnt try him anywhere else on the field. Still a full Saints list playing well I think he would have been a fringe player.

Ryder isn't back yet. He only played half a game at Sandy.

How long did Ryder take off for to find himself?

Or maybe I should ask -- what the hell did he do whilst he was away? Sit on the couch eating junk?
How out of shape did he get? He was only gone for a couple of weeks and he has needed a month to get over it!

Just some general questions;

Do you have to have half a brain first before someone calls you brain dead?

How many beers would it take every week over 30 or 40 years to lose one’s intelligence and sense of reasoning and understanding?

It’s very fashionable to dig into all things St.Kilda recruiting at the moment and I was loathe to let Bruce go when we did but accepted it as a decent deal all round...

Gotta say though, I absolutely don’t see the recent hype about Bruce at all

Was mediocre last year with a few efforts that bordered on embarrassing and a few decent games as well. This year with the Bulldogs mids close to the best in the league... I don’t reckon he’s been that standoutish. Couple of bags when the Bulldogs have been on top... currently unsighted as the Tigers have a big 3/4.

Not taking big grabs, not leading or crashing packs, not presenting much of a target even up the ground

Reckon ppl are getting sucked into the hype there

What skeptic said.
Baroose is a downhill skier.
He can't turn the tide, he can't kick goals when it's needed, he just gets on the end of good play.

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Quite literally missed an uncontested mark up forward because he got too far under it

Bruce has been atrocious tonight.

Actually he has been atrocious for most of the games he has played since leaving.

I was just about to say before he just dropped a mark, he takes the heat off Naughton but I think you are right. He just can't seem to get those difficult shots.

Baroose missed another on the run, no pressure

He seems to lack composure under pressure. The great players will nail their chances at least 50% of the time.

Don’t most forwards get on the end of play?

Let's face it, most of the games he played for us. You can't play North Melbourne for 22 rounds plus finals. He's a poor mark overhead & a poor shot at goal on the run. A good set shot, just. He tries, he runs but usually runs the wrong way for what the play dictates.

I'd have Bruce in our side any day, imagine him running interference for Kingy and Members.

Delicious.

I the point is that he rarely nails half chances.

I was against him leaving but where do you play the resulting ruck.

He runs interference, just not always for his own side.

Atrocious.

That was his BEST contribution of the game.
It's what every player needs to do.
Dominate your opponents.
Be physical every chance you get.

I think we are so happy to hang on to anything, we take pleasure in former players playing bad at other clubs. It vindicates us, and we are happy we ACTUALLY got one right.

I remember their used to be threads/posts if Petracca played a poor game early doors, again desperately vindicating a call by the club.

We are so precious, that anything which seems to look like a good call is highlighted!

Bruce was a serviceable to good player for StK. played some good games, many ok games and occasionally poor games

He will be the same at the dogs

Possibly a premiership FF this season

Bruce played true to form when the heat was on last night - he shat the bed on a couple of marking attempts. Is a head case and the club did the right thing by off loading him.
