Good to see the same scapegoats are chosen and nothing changes!

I can't believe Carlisle is cooked before he is 30 years old, his back must be stuffed.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

I know Jake might have attitude issues, but his height in the backline is very important.
Maybe he's being taught a lesson so he gets his head right, because we play
Suns
Cats
Bulldogs
Norf (gawd we cant lose against these gypsies)
Swans
Crows
Tigers
Pies
Lions
Power
etc

It was reported that Carlisle had a back spasm at training and left the track early.

Byrnes getting a gig surprised me. Just a couple of weeks after returning from a serious hamstring. I doubt he will have the fitness base needed to run out a game.

Lonie hasn't looked like impacting a game this year. More a reflection of our poor midfield than his own actual form

Two strong games from Byrnes is fine for me. Give him a couple of games at least to show what he has.

I think Jake is about cooked. That tired dropped mark on the goal line last week was pretty bad. He was really awful in that game.

With Frawley coming back in VFL this week, he will be back in the firsts next week. Don't think they see a place in the backline for Jake.

Good to see Byrnes back in the side. Ryder is obviously a massive in. O'Meara and Wingard missing for the Hawks.. big opportunity.

Hopefully Byrnes doesn't play exclusively as a small forward this time.

Ryder and RoMa double teaming on Ben McEvoy will give our mids first go at clearances.

What the mids do next, is totally up to them.
Will they bomb it into F50 like usual?

will the guys run forward into space as normal, so on the inevitable turnovers, all the Hawks will just
raffle off the ball to see who kicks the goal?

That might be it for Jake I’m afraid.

Alas.

.....like a steam boat sent to the breakers yard...

One day, he’ll be interviewed on a podcast or Mike Sheehan-like show...

Be curious to hear what he says. Hopefully not vanilla trite like Heatleys interview.

Dude, Bytel was the medical sub last week.
He came on late to replace The Rock Star when he limped off with Achilles awareness (and to check his shares portfolio on his iPhone)

Hey, its good that hes rewarding the kids for their good form, its very encouraging for the youth, they can expect to be rewarded, unlike the bad old days

I'm OK with the changes. I hope Joyce fires during the game, otherwise he has to be out for Clav or Carlisle.

I hate how the medical sub is an automatic IN when they're not actually selected in the team.
If a player is promoted to the starting team they should be included as an IN.

Team selections should have the same amount of INs to OUTs..

In saying that im glad Bytel is playing..

Long and Lonie have not been setting the world on fire but at least they have a crack and show some endeavor.

Same cannot be said for Mr Undroppable.
What message does that send to the group?
If you are soft as butter and run around playing bruise free footy I’ll keep you in the side no matter how weak your performance.

Dunstan is probably not AFL standard but where is selection integrity and encouragement when 46 possessions in the twos doesn’t get you a game in a team that was flogged by 80 points.

Weak as piss Rotten.

Rotton shoulda dropped the Rock Star, and called it 'managed'. After the game, he mentioned being careful with Achilles after Gresh's one.
So he coulda said we're being safe.
Geezus

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Our shocking form demanded changes . According to all reports Byrnes was one of only three Saints who did any good for Sandy last week, the others being Ryder and Dunstan. Ryder was selected ( as a sensible swap for our stop-gap second ruck, Carlisle ) . Dunstan’s poor game against Tigers surely meant Byrnes had the right to be selected ahead of him this week.

Well done Ryan on fighting back after a bad hammy. You deserve your spot, probably more so than others in the selected team.

What on earth has happened to Carlisle?

I don’t know if it’s his attitude... or the coach’s complete lack of faith in him has rattled his confidence... or it’s injury... or most likely some combination of all of these.

He was a vital cog in our defence when we had the best backline this club had seen in 10 years... but when Darragh Joyce replaces a player of his talent and experience in the role of you defender then just stick a fork in him because he is DONE.

IMO Carlisle should not play again this season unless the cupboard is absolutely bare and mercifully cut at the end of the season

He’s now behind Joyce, Highmore and Clavarino IMO
