Maybe sound out Voss, if cuddles don't work maybe tough love will.
Go the draft or Free agency and leave the overpriced hacks alone.
Our record particularly with higher priced recruits is dismal.
Patience, there are no quick fixes to 10 plus years of idiotic trading IN and OUT!

The plan is to be St Kilda-esque.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

We could possibly win 5 of those if we stay injury free with Ryder back and find some form
We would then be 7 & 6 going into the bye
A Paddy-led revival. I like the concept and I guess stranger things have happened (though none come immediately to mind).
Need to find a way to get Marshall forward. King is too green to lead the forward line and Membrey, while a good player, isn’t a proper key forward.
Also, the midfield has a similar one-dimensional look to the Richo years. OK for in-and-unders, but we really miss the dash and daring that a player such as Gresham provides.
Not sure what the answer there is. Maybe get Hunter Clark involved again as he’s too good a talent to spend his career as a half back flank. Granted, he doesn’t have a lot of dash, but he is capable of being creative. He looks uninspired and uninspiring where he is.
With Ryder and Marshall back, Carlisle (if fit) is our best bet at CHB. The defence looks structurally unsound ... and has done all season without him.

I think we can win a few of these games.
But we'll still lose to North.

The injury list has been an issue but players look as they don't have a plan, and don't even know each other.

there are only 6 players on the injury list, if that's why then we have zero depth. The Peanut wrote: ↑Sun 25 Apr 2021 11:10pmThe injury list has been an issue but players look as they don't have a plan, and don't even know each other.

Have all the time in the world, I am only 62 years old.
But please do it right, no more emptying other clubs' trash cans.
Yes I know Steele and Membrey came from other clubs but they were both young and cheap.

Re: What Happens Next...
Unfortunately you are probably right.
Billings won’t sign a new contract at year end and we will probably get a mid first round in return
Our recent record of drafting suggest we are unlikely to get a player as good as or better with that pick.
Byrnes Bytel are the only 2 fringe players who look like they might establish themselves in the next 2 years. Nothing else coming through .
We need about 6 players to replace Hannebery, Ryder, Frawley, Carlisle & Geary who will all retire by end of 2022, plus the usual delisting of players not quite up to it eg Kent, Joyce, Connelly, etc
This year was probably our best chance of becoming a destination club by playing finals again. That dream gone.
We are at least 5 years away

Let's hope Billings gets us a first rounder when he wants out, i don't think he'll be missed, sadly.Zed wrote: ↑Sun 25 Apr 2021 11:55pmUnfortunately you are probably right.

Then Gags will have 2 first rounders to waste.

What about all those phone calls the club was getting? I thought every 3rd player in the league wanted to play under Ratts.

Re: What Happens Next...
Clark Howard Webster
Coffield King Wilkie
Jones Steele Ross
Higgins Membrey Billings
Butler Wood Ryder
Marshall, Crouch, Sinclair
Carlisle, Byrnes, Bytel, Battle, Highmore
King needs a run at CHB to get some confidence back
Wood comes in as a lead up target, we recruited him so why not give him a go
Ryder and Marshall can play out of the square when resting.
Byrnes and Bytel just need to play and not on a HFF but through the midfield

Can move the names on the whiteboard as much as you want.
The gameplan is shyte and we are not AFL level fit.
2021 is gone. Done and dusted. Now it is just a question of whether we finish bottom four or in no mans land.
I reckon we botched the preseason. Just not fit enough.

Ratts' should be OK. Different call for several senior players not exerting themselves. They need a substantial holiday until they realise we mean it that this is not acceptable.MickThomas wrote: ↑Sun 25 Apr 2021 9:01pm There's gonna be some hard conversations at RSEA Park on Tuesday.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

Re: What Happens Next...
I think King needs to watch his brother and other young players who showing signs of success. To be fair delivery is crap but he needs to be moving to get noticed and not live nearly at the wing for 1/3 of the game. Structure forward is starting to resemble Richos old habits.saintbob wrote: ↑Mon 26 Apr 2021 1:02am Clark Howard Webster

Re: What Happens Next...
Week after week post the same thing. Last night again we matched inside 50s. The problem most of ours are rubbish long bombs. Ports, Richmond, Melbourne, Essendon were hitting targets leading into space. Ratts needs to change his deep entry theory that every oppo knows we do or get out and take up golf.
