Sure was. Humiliating but the Essendon loss was worse for me, if that's possible.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 5 2021
Our small forwards may have kicked a fair percentage of our measly 7 goals... but they didnt bring other players into the game.
They are just finishers... not playmakers.
They dont get themselves into free space or combine with other players ...to give their team mates an option to kick or handball to.
Our small forwards are constantly rushed and under pressure and put their team mates under pressure.
The Richmond small forwards run all over the ground, spread and combine beautifully with their midfielders and with each other.
Big difference.

What can the coach take from this?!
What’s he going to do about it?!
Our old coach was to blame for losses with a poor list
He also needs to be questioned with a better list!!!

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 5 2021
The slow ball movement murdered us - we weren't even trying to play on at all - just holding it up allowing he Tigers to resetB.M wrote: ↑Thu 15 Apr 2021 10:54pm You’d have to wonder why there was such a shift with the ball movement after q1
We were deliberately going slow (obviously in an attempt to stop the turnover kicks)
But we simply couldn’t get through their defence!!!!
King was on fire when we shifted the ball quick and he got one on ones
After q1 he didn’t get a kick!!!
Due to the slow ball movement
If that was a set plan then the coaches can go and get fkd
Ratten can blame losing clearances all he likes but again we did nothing about trying to quell their outside positioning around the contest
Too many times 2 or 3 of players got sucked to the ball carrier allowing an easy out
Our good can be great but our bad is stinking putrid
Back to the drawing board

Can't win if you get smashed at clearance or play a chip chip chip game. No run, no quick ball movement = get smashed.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 5 2021
How can we keep accepting this effort?
I mean, sure everyone has an off day, but we just have those three out of four weeks.
Hill MUST play at Sandringham next week. MUST.
Dunstan's career is now over. Last game for the club. Thank you for your service.
Hunter surely cannot play again. Thanks for coming, but its over.
Howard was gassed after about fifteen minuts into the first. And why does he fall over so often at Docklands? What the actual ....
Five weeks in and we should be outraged. But nah, its St.Kilda.
Another deep and meaningful discussion tomorrow, that makes it OK.
A few hushed tones in little pressers next week. Again that makes it OK.
Welcome to another five or six years in the wilderness.
Welcome to another bunch of Sunday twilight games. Oh, and I hope these guys had ambitions to live in Hobart. They might get lucky and its Launceston.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 5 2021
They are but we need a blend of mids, inside & outside polish, too much inside...slow as treacle. Billings is better on the wing, not inside 50 when the ball comes in that poorly. Toby Greene would look impotent.samoht wrote: ↑Thu 15 Apr 2021 11:11pm Our small forwards may have kicked a fair percentage of our measly 7 goals... but they didnt bring other players into the game.

You clearly haven’t got a fkn clue

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 5 2021
Time to forget the blokes that are not AFL standard like Long, Lonie and Dunstan. A couple of real ruckmen and added pace from Jones should help but Byrnes and Connolly should get a run. Recruiting a young ruckman and a couple of quick skilled players should also be on the cards but knowing the track record we will plod along with the second raters we have now

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 5 2021
We brought effort, but we were not good enough.
Richmond have skilled runners and playmakers all over the ground... we dont.
Our midfield is too "inside"and our small forwards are finishers not playmakers.
We are too one dimensional ... we need more balance in our midfield and in our forward line. We need more playmakers, more spread and run and better skills.

We were beaten by a team that knows what it takes to win a premiership they have won 3 out of the last 4 & they displayed why tonight is just shows how much we have to improve to get to that level.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 5 2021
My last comment to you on this. I, along with the other 2 posters you quoted, made comment of his on-field leadership. Got it now? It's been poor and continues to be poor. He is a senior player who needs to stand up in games like this and set an example like his Tiger's counterparts did. Hatred?? No! You made that comment. Choose your words carefully. I' have never hated a Saints player. I have most definitely labelled Billings over-rated in the past and I stand by that.IluvHarvey wrote: ↑Thu 15 Apr 2021 11:06pmHaha Tunnel vision? Mate your hatred towards Billing’s is obsessive. Yes he had a poor game but your comment about the last 8 years is nothing short of stupidity. You just have no clue.saintkid wrote: ↑Thu 15 Apr 2021 10:55pmThere are many that think like me and respect my views mate. Keep your tunnel-vision, attacking comments to yourself, go watch a reply of the game and see how much of a leader Billings has been tonight when the team again needed the senior players such as him to stand up.IluvHarvey wrote: ↑Thu 15 Apr 2021 10:37pmSeriously you just constantly embarrass yourself with dribble like this.saintkid wrote: ↑Thu 15 Apr 2021 10:29pmHe hasn't to date after 8 years and never will. He is one of our several physically inept players and when the opposition bring their A game together, he and a number of others go missing.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 5 2021
In - Marshall, Ryder, Jones, Connolly
Out - Hunter, Dunstan, a small forward, Webster (inj)
Long, Ross, Hill, McKenzie, Sinclair all in the gun
And sort your fkn kicking out King - stop rolling the damn ball about when you are coming into to kick it

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 5 2021
Higgins, Lonie and Butler had 4 tackles between them, nowhere near good enough.
2 can probably contribute as much as 3, I’d rather another player up the field who can get the ball into the forward line.
Figuring out who that player is is the next problem...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Tigers Round 5 2021
Why
They kicked 75% of our score from 30i50 entries
Aren’t the Mids who lost the clearances 21-1 in the third, more of an issue??

Forwards going up to win the footy and kicking it straight to their opponents is what killed us in the second.

Poor Dunstan.
What circumstances to come back!
Hadn't been picked since Round One 1999.
Expectations.
Suspicious clouds hovering above.
Richmond after two losses...
Thrown into the fire...and burned.
