No doubt mate & I wasn't being flippant but no point playing them if they are not up to it. You're only as good as the team you put on the park & will IMO take a monumental effort to salute the judge tonight but still hoping we can be competitive & at least give them a run for their money. The Fireman wrote: ↑Thu 15 Apr 2021 7:53pmnot a pissing contest mate... both of these outs will hurt us tonight....bigtime.bangaulegend wrote: ↑Thu 15 Apr 2021 7:51pmSounds like you were on the money right from the start mate . Re: Marshall out
at the end of the day I think they have made the right decision, we may drop this one against arguably the best side and make sure they are cherry ripe for the long haul.bangaulegend wrote: ↑Thu 15 Apr 2021 8:02pmNo doubt mate & I wasn't being flippant but no point playing them if they are not up to it. Re: Marshall out
If they're not right then you cant play em. Not in round five.
We know what we will get from Dunstan. He will crack in.
Hunter can and should break even with Nank.

Re: Marshall out
Hunter was ok. Dunstan was terrible. Luke let himself down in the area he’s usually the strongest. He fumbled too much in close and when he had a chance to get a clearance.

Re: Marshall out
On top of taking his renowned capabilities in the discipline of Clanger kicks to a whole new (low) level. Diabolical in 2021 having a midfielder who can’t hit a target by foot - let alone a slow version at that
Go you red, black & white warriors

Re: Marshall out
Nankervis was probably BOG, and Dunstan although horrible wasn't our worst.
Played 3/4 of the game for 16 possessions.

Re: Marshall out
Why did he play 3/4 of the game
16 possessions from an inside mid = poor
In perspective Lonie had 13 as a forward pocket, from only 30 inside 50s and he didn’t play that well
Edwards 29, Martin 34, Bolton 29 and Cotchin 21 dominated
Bytel (10) Ross (15) Hill (10) Dunstan (16)
Didn’t offer enough

Re: Marshall out
I said he was horrible....but not our worst...played 3/4 of the game because of rotations and starting on the bench...thought that would be f****** obvious...obviously not.B.M wrote: ↑Fri 16 Apr 2021 4:20pm Why did he play 3/4 of the game

Re: Marshall out
Dunstan, when he gets the ball, cannot kick it accurately.
His preferred foot behaves like his non-preferred, it's that dodgy.
In the VFL, he'd be playing in less than ideal conditions.
Maybe muddy grounds, wind, etc.
You'd think that playing at Marvel, under the roof, he'd be relishing the ideal conditions.
But noooooooo....one out on the full, and the other kicks also went astray.
Don't pick him again

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Re: Marshall out
Dunstan was benched for a big portion of the game (3/4 I think) because his disposal was absolutely killing us. He was in the guts when WCE got on top and they capitalised on his turnovers... for a chunk of the second, i think they stopped manning up on him so that he would get the ball.
Bytel’s 10 possessions were worth 25 of Dunstan...

Re: Marshall out
I don't think Dunstan has ever actually been strong in any area. We can all agree that he's a slow, one-dimensional inside mid with poor skills and a limited tank, so he should be absolutely elite in the contest. In his career-best season (2019) he was 27th in the league for contested possessions per game with an average of 11.5 and 9th in the league for clearances with 6.33 per game. This was by far his best year, with his career averages for these stats sitting at 8.6 and 3.9 respectively.
Part of the reason why we were so terrible from 2014-2019 is that we were carrying the league's worst starting inside midfielder. How the hell does a starting mid only accumulate 5 Brownlow votes from 104 games?

Re: Marshall out
Debatable re #41. Howard really let him know his thoughts about a couple of ruck contests which cost us goals.
