I went through every post in this thread and couldn’t find it.
Lonie yes...but...who said Seb should be dropped?

Nothing like having it both ways, is there B.M.? Prior to last Saturday I could be forgiven your rating of Ratten was somewhere between the 2IC in charge of the banner's ropes and the backup boot studder, now he's your divining rod for your beliefs.

Re: Saints vs Tigers
There is a certain ‘me vs the world’ thing happening here.
I noted that despite the calls for Lonie to be dropped, few have questioned his work rate, heart and endeavour... fewer still have questioned whether he actually deserves to be or should have stayed on the list which is being defended adnauseum.
Forumites at the moment are questioning Lonie’s effectiveness so far this season and I think even the staunchest defender can admit that he is certainly capable of better performances

What are you on about?
I rate Ratts as a coach, played finals last season, had a good win this season.
He’s doing a good job.
Would like to see our forwards hold a bit at times, and hit up.

Re: Saints vs Tigers
I don't think Lonie can realistically be expected to play any better than he currently is, as he is one of 3 small forwards - the crumbing opportunities are now being spread around (this year).
Everyone rates him - but this year, we have another 2 equally good small forwards.
One has more leg speed and can chase down and cause turnovers (Butler), the other is physically stronger (Higgins).
There were 2 matches (Melb and Essendon) - where the balance was not right. We went in with 1 small too many, imho.
Richmond might be a team where the matchups allow for 3 small forwards - it might be the right call?
But, it's a marathon and not a sprint - it'll be interesting to see if we can keep going in with 3 small forwards.
Butler looked like the small forward that needed to make way for a bigger-bodied player (for balance sake), until WCE last week?
Let's see if Butler can keep bringing it - as Lonie brings effort every time.
One thing we need to consider is:
If Max King starts holding his marks - then 1 small forward (whoever that is) might prove plenty.
Nothing is set in stone.

Re: Saints vs Tigers
Yeah agree Skeptic, Lones hasn't set the world on fire so far this season but it would be hard to make changes to that team from last week. Ratts has to back em in until they don't deserve their place, and Ratts looks like he won't suffer players poor form or not playing the way he needs, Jake and Longy are exhibit A.skeptic wrote: ↑Thu 15 Apr 2021 9:31amThere is a certain ‘me vs the world’ thing happening here.

The positive side to having an over abundant supply of small forwards is it keeps them on their toes and so I'd imagine Lones lives week to week with the anxiety of insecurity.

Re: Saints vs Tigers
So why is it on a Thursday night?
2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Re: Saints vs Tigers
If there is any doubt about RoMas fitness then I wouldn't risk him. I don't mind Dunny coming in for Zac either. I know we lose some speed but we will need as many hard bodies in tonight as possible. This will/should be a tackle fest.

This news sucks majorly.
I don't mind about Dunny for Zac, but No RoMo is NoGoBro.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Saints vs Tigers
Can't see it being a strategy to confuse Richmond. They won't care who is playing. We will know in 30mins.
