Re: Votes v Eagles
He wasn't in my top five. But 5 or 6 players did get votes who were no better or worse than Seb.

What did Seb do that may have warranted a vote? I can’t recall any highlight that included Seb in the play.saynta wrote: ↑Tue 13 Apr 2021 6:39pmHe wasn't in my top five. But 5 or 6 players did get votes who were no better or worse than Seb.
Not saying that he didn’t do anything outstanding or that he didn’t perform a role, but I do recall some typical Sebby 30 metre kicks that resulted in turnovers. You know those loopy high inside 50’s and you look at it again on the replay and see that they were kicks on his preferred left foot. I’d forgive him if they were on his right.
I’m not sure if it’s a legacy from Cho’s game plan or whether he’s been instructed to give the ball air but it’s not something that works because the kick gives oppo defenders time to double team our talls. Why doesn’t he look to put the footy out in front of one of the forwards or pass it to a team mate who has the ability to hit up a lead?

Re: Votes v Eagles
There was one kick - highlighted by Dunstall as a poor I50
Somehow that has turned into a number of loopy kicks
Was there a target?
Was it a skill error?
Was there pressure?
Or just a poor option or kick?? It happens... if it spilled over the back and we got a goal it would have been good play... I know for a fact the BR game plan on a fast play is to attack the goal mouth.
Guess what Paddy Dangerfield does when he is bursting forward of centre with the footy... and it ain’t spotting up targets!!!

Re: Votes v Eagles
Personally I don’t need a tv mouthpiece (and Dunstall is a very good observer and very good special comments commentator) to tell me what I can see for myself. I don’t pay attention to the media noise. In this particular game there were a few occasions where Seb didn’t make good decisions with his kicking. He has admitted it himself that this is a weakness in his game.
I have been watching Seb and have been critical of Seb for quite a while. That doesn’t mean he isn’t in our best 22. I just said I thought he didn’t earn a vote for the match against WC.
I know you want to defend Seb and you think the criticism is unwarranted, but don’t make stuff up. I didn’t say I want him dropped ( the discussion in another thread was more about Lonie deserving to be dropped). If Seb keeps proving the doubters wrong and he keeps playing a role in our team I’ll be happy. Put it this way...I don’t think there’s anyone he’s keeping out of the side...with Lonie...that is still up for debate and I reckon he needs to show something in the next few weeks if he wants to retain his spot

Re: Votes v Eagles
Fair enough but it still means in your opinion Seb wasn't in our best 10 or 11 which is about right & also makes it completely understandable he did not get a vote.saynta wrote: ↑Tue 13 Apr 2021 6:39pmHe wasn't in my top five. But 5 or 6 players did get votes who were no better or worse than Seb.
Seb has set a high bar for his best football and that should be his standard and what he's judged on. The same with any player, notables include Billings, Clark, Coffield, Gresham. When all of these develop the consistency of Steele to play their best every game we will be so much stronger.
Seb plays more good football than bad, Seb has a dip more often than not. He will be given Dusty tonight and I really hope I'm giving him 5 votes tomorrow.

Re: Votes v Eagles
Dropped?
He’s been in the best players twice this season... why would he be dropped. He’s also in the leadership group.
I reckon the last time Seb played VFL was in 2014?
He’s not even close to a fringe player, and like all the Mids is keeping Dunstan out of the side.
