Was the sub in rd 2, barely got a look in and was dropped for the Essendon game
19 touches and 7 more tackles again today.
Simply put... the kid needs to play a hell of a lot more. Don’t want to see him dropped again while we have 3 forward pockets in the team... send Steele or Billings to rest down there for a bit if we need midfield space. They can kick goals.
Kid will be a tank
Love him

+1...Good observations. I’ve underlined one of your commentsSanctorum wrote: ↑Sun 11 Apr 2021 1:03pm For a bloke who has only played 6 games so far I have been really impressed with Jack Bytel's performance this year, improving every game and on that basis should remain in "best 22".
Really like his intensity, never takes a backward step, makes good decisions and uses the ball well. At 189 cm he is a big bodied midfielder and at age 21 (last month) he has the maturity to mix it with the best. Destined to eventually succeed Seb Ross, though the latter has well and truly delivered this year.
Did you hear Ratten in the after match press conference when he was talking about the leaders and senior players. I think it was a freudian slip but he mentioned Bytel when talking about leaders!
Ratts was praising Steele and then talked about the other on field leaders and he said “Howard, Wilkie, Membrey, Bytel..uuhh...sorry, Billings and Ross...”
I always see Jack being vocal out on the ground. I know it’s early and you don’t want to put the moz on the kid, but I think Ratts sees him as a future leader

Yeah, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets airtime on a Footy Classified, ‘What caught your eye’ kind of segment. and St Kilda is questioned for taking the Mickey a bit with the protocol. The fact that he was right in the middle of congestion immediately after kind of smothered the incident ‘fog of war’ style but don’t be surprised if Caro has a poke and prod..
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

I think there’s a difference between banging your head against someone in a spot that stings and hurts versus banging your head and getting concussion. He was stunned and hurt, but I don’t think he was concussed.

he was a sack of spuds on the ground for a fair while
also rip into the umps for not stopping the play i reckon
(that was the ‘fog of war’ moment , which , to his undying credit , he got up ‘n went off focussing on .... next)
hopefully the club doesn’t get ripped a new one over that

Re: Jack Bytel
Loved the bit just after the final siren when Bytel was in a minor scuffle with Allen and Bytel just shrugged him off & pushed him away as if to say "fk you"
His attitude is spot on - dude wants to win and he ain't short of confidence
The shimmy spin and ghost baulk on the wing .....
And vision and skill to kick to Max's advantage .....
All in his 4th game

Re: Jack Bytel
Gresham does everything right, right up until he has to dispose of the ball whereupon he is often wasteful and often favours the "incredible" kick over just the "effective" kick.
