Not a lot of love for Hill. I thought he was brilliant against WC

Even though he had a deficit to make up for the games against Melbourne and Essendon (that crap deserved minus votes) I still think he deserved votes for tonight

Different guys played well but for me it was the enormous change in the ruck (against the best in the league) that allowed us to win.

5. Marshall. Halved the contest with Nic Nat. Was very competitive everywhere else.
4. Carlisle. What a game for a whinger. Super impressed. Even spoiled while sitting on the ground.
3 Captain Courageous - Steele.
2. Membrey. Vice Captain Courageous.
1. Crouch. Welcome buddy.

Unlucky - more courage shown by Hill (even tackled a couple of times - got lost in the excitement), McKenzie (ran all day very few clangers), Billings (kept linking), Jones ( showed spirit), King ( 5 goals should have got a vote but was overwhelmed by the courage shown by the winners).

Well done Saints. Felt amazingly low last week.

I used to play on a wing in my much younger days, so wingers got votes from me

5.Marshall -the difference between winning and losing this week
4.Hill/ DMac - Hills skills and DMac for showing no fear in tough stuff
3.Steele - led by example in the second half especially
2. Carlise- thought he put a lot of physical pressure on Nic, and moved the ball pretty well
1. Billings- good overall game

6 players listed - no indication of where the votes are for - or is your comment on Carlisle just that?

So 2 votes each????

I think King is fantastic, but his absolute rubbish misses and poor marking in packs means he doesn't get into my top 5.

He is very young in games played and that means a lot. He will improve and become brilliant.
He HAS had games where he was the best on the damn ground, just fought and played beautifully...
He had 1 moment where he fought, got a few touches and then almost kicked a goal of the game, but missed.

Goals: he was gifted 2 frees....so 3 goals is the actual effort he gave. Still good but not amazing.

13 disposals only 4 marks, 62% efficiency, ONE contested mark, no 1%'s.

Being our only tall forward he gets balls because he is in the forward line, my point is any tall AFL forward would've had his effort today. It was average for the insane quantity of incoming balls ( most of which he did not possess but was beat by a defender).

So, no, he was not a top 5 today regardless of 5 goals.

He can and will be our #1 on ground in coming years.

Game nearly beyond us. Who is willing to stand up and drag the rest of the team with them? Who inspired? Steele, Marshall, Butler, Maaxy King and... Danny McKenzie. Dan had 21 disposals at 85% DE ...cough...cough...that’s elite!! He tackled hard and also helped on the spread with 7 marks. McKenzie was the one that grasped the loose ground ball close to our goals, he shakes off a tackle with strength, got the handball out to Billings who dished off to Butler late in the 3rd. That was the spark. He marked and goaled in the 3rd quarter as well and was a large part of starting our momentum.

Who worked hard for the full four quarters? Nearly half the team but standouts to me are Steele, Hill, Crouch, McKenzie, Billings, Carlisle, Clarke, Jones and Timmy Membrey

4 Steele
3 McKenzie
2 Membrey
2 King
1 Billings
1 Clark
1 Jones
1 Hill

After watching the replay again I note that Dan received a bullet handpass from Steele and it wasn’t a loose ground ball. He caught it cleanly without fumbling when there was heat and he also hit his target with the pass. His grip and hold on the footy and his ability to shrug off the first tackler was very impressive.

We had a captain who won 6 B&Fs was AA Captain and led us to two grand finals. Captained near 200 games and will be an AFL legend!

So to be our best Captain ever will be a big call

You may be on to something there S_D but if he ends up lifting a Premiership Cup for St Kilda whilst a Norm Smith hangs around his neck, I'll put him in the Top 2.
