Ben Long Omitted

Post: # 1893379Post B.M »

Given Webster and Geary out

Hunter Clarke playing midfield

And McKenzie preferred

Very concerning for him

I mostly like those ins and outs.

Though not sure about dropping Long, he's much better than McKenzie.

Discipline thing?

It would appear, for the time being at least, Dmac has gone past Long, a proposition a self proclaimed itk on here not long ago suggested was a possibility that didn't warrant serious consideration. He stated he couldn't take it seriously.

That didn't take long, did it? You know who you are.

I find it hard to accept McKernan preferred to Hunter who has been dropped but I suspect Carlisle is going to be used as first ruck changing forward with McKernan.
Hunter provides nothing as a forward.
Wood provides an extra making forward.
I don't like McKenzie in for Long.

I much prefer Long to McKenzie. Otherwise seems ok although ruck stocks thin.

I am happy. DMac maybe a trundler - was a long way back I thought ..Behind Ed Philips last year. But Long looks like a fast bowler who gives you one rip snorter an over , plus a two wides and a no-ball.

Long will still be preferred in the Long run.

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

I am not quite sure that Higgins has enough height for centre half forward.
I seem to remember Riewoldt was a little taller.

I would think so. His lapses in discipline and brain fades damage the entire team and there have been a few too many of late.

Featured in the votes in rd1 and was far from the worst last week.

Mind boggling that all three of Lonie, Higgins and Butler survived. Would rather have seen Long in a forward pocket

No shame in getting dropped. I’d say it was a discipline thing and Ratts needs Longy to compose himself and control his emotions.

I’m pretty sure his coach rates him. Doesn’t matter what you or any other posters think

But Hill who has been absolute sh1te...he's okay?
I mean on a scale of pathetic Hill is leaps ahead of Long. At least Long tries and doesn't stand around acting like he's at a risk aversion seminar or look like a seagull lurking around the beach hoping just perhaps someone will drop a chip and it falls his way so he can fly off with it....

That said, Long does need to work on composure and disposals lol.

Hill has won a B&F and three premierships

So he has some runs on the board

Do you drop David Warner after a lean trot, knowing he’ll come good or do you drop Travis Head who can’t get past 40

Long was absolute crap last week. Turns the ball over and gives too many frees away. Needs to make way.

It looks like the coach is putting faith in players who are coming up against their old team.
Essendon's ruck stock is as thin as ours atm and McKernan will know what he is up against and give a decent contest to 1/2 the ruck.
Carlisle us more of a concern to me, because even though he plays the game like Gary Dempsey with his defensive marking it ain't the 1970s.
He is a one-trick pony intercept mark and anyone who thinks he will be our relief ruckman is deluded, even though he's built like a ruckman, he can't get to contests around the ground.
Battle has the leap and tank, but not the body to relieve in the ruck, but what's the alternative?
