Surely Wood, CARLISLE, Crouch, Kent and Dunstan can all come in next week??therabbitinthehat wrote: ↑Sat 27 Mar 2021 10:03pmIf we had any that weren't injured that would be an option

Re: Match thread v Melbourne
I have never seen our side miss so many kicks and handballs since Richardson was coach. That plus our inability to stick tackles was abysmal.
One of our small forwards has to go out next week.
Crouch in will make a difference and hopefully Marshall is ready as Hunter & McKernan are timid.
I think last weeks game plus 1 day less recovery, took more out of the side than we thought. But gees it was a disappointing game.
Only positives were Howard and Steeles games, every other player was beaten their opponent.

Re: Match thread v Melbourne
We should get back to 1 small forward ... Gresham. That's it.
Our small forwards were outmarked, outbodied and were always under pressure ... and Higgins and Lonie are not quick.

Re: Match thread v Melbourne
So many to drop.... so here we go
Hill for Crouch
Long for Leo Connolly (not many other options)
McKernan for Carlisle (yes make him play forward / ruck if he wants a game)
Webster inj for dunstan
I know it wont happen
So line could look like

So much finger pointing.. omg lol
Gawn just dominated tonight and they got first touch everytime.
Next week you will signing praises because Essendon wont have a ruckman at all...
Big deal we lost a game, dont make such a big issue of it.

Re: Match thread v Melbourne
Totally disagree with this and I didn't even think we were that badly mauled in the ruck like many expected we would be.
I thought our rucks were mediocre but not terrible it's just we were totally outclassed, outpaced and beaten for intensity for nearly the entire night and that's unforgivable.
We could have had Grundy, Sandilands and Paddy Ryder all playing ruck tonight and we still would have lost because we were overmatched in nearly every other area and that's worrying.

Re: Match thread v Melbourne
Ok time to take a deep brearh .......
Not great tonight - maybe the game against GWS took its toll but pretty hard to defend the rubbish we served up
We are obviously missing Ryder and Marshall badly and not sure we can go in with 3 small forwards ...... Carlisle?
Ross Steele Howard were the good ..... the rest were trash - skills and decision making just went out the window ..... reserves standard
16pts up and we just started to lairise and then we just switched off and couldnt peg them back
All sides will lose this year and have bad weeks ...... we gwt Crouch back next week and hopefully Ryder and Marshall soon
Dopers next week so we should go 2-1 given they copped a few injuries this week and they are coming back from Adelaide

Re: Match thread v Melbourne
I am disgusted.
I could not believe the refusal of St Kilda players to man up when they had the ball.
Can't believe St Kilda players could not hit their targets, delivering the ball to the opposition.
But we need to select next weeks team to beat Essendon not to replay Melbourne.
That is Essendon without Dylan Shiel (medial ligament) and Jye Caldwell (hamstring)
Their number 1 ruckmen Sam Draper (ankle) is unlikely to play.
They were forced to use two metre Peter Wright when Draper had to give up to his injury.
I don't think that playing two ruckmen is worth it when one only got 4 hit outs.
Unless of course Marshall is fit to play or Paddy Ryder comes back from nowhere.
An extra medium or tall forward would be better.

Re: Match thread v Melbourne
I call bulls***, Hunter played against the best ruckman in the comp.
McKernan played on their 3rd or 4th best defender and was virtually unsighted

Re: Match thread v Melbourne
Let us call a spade a spade. That was the most insipid effort by the Saints in years.
The margin flattered us. I am amazed that it was close as it was.
Dougall Howard was the only StKilda player who played a good game.
The Stats will give the illusion that some StKilda players had good games, but they did not. Their ball use and decision making was just dreadful. ie Membrey.

Re: Match thread v Melbourne
Sorry, but this was a gutless effort. The scoreboard is flattering. Added to that, Melbourne played like s***!
Phunter got smashed.
51 ruck contests and Gawn won 40 of them. Face facts, he is barely at AFL level. Probably needs two months or more playing for Sandringham and even then we would still have to be without a ruckman to even consider him.
This is the worst game for the club since the Good Friday travesty against Norf.
Forward set up, structure and entries were just plain pathetic.
6 tackles in our F50 only. Not good enough.
HIll, Lonie, Long, Butler, Higgins, Battle..... Seriously take a long hard look.
Mids f****** around with the ball, extra handballs, turning it over... repeatedly,
We turned it over 80 times out of 350 possessions. Disgraceful.
Under 40% efficiency inside our F50. Our entries were horrendous. Richo era horrendous.
Such a big game in the grand scheme of things and we turn out that horse s***.
Deadset drinking our own bathwater.
