The Rhyming Saints are back
Hi there all you Sainters, the Rhyming Saints are back
And with a gutsy win, the boys are right on track
United and fun-loving is the culture Rats has shared
When we're all in it together there is nothing to be feared
Undermanned, away from home we cut the Giants down to size
As we continue to improve, wins like this are no surprise

Re: The Rhyming Saints are back
Well it looks to all and sundry
That the Rhyming Saints are back
When I hoped we’d seen the last of
This rhyming corny hack
I’ve read, and often wondered
Who’d read it & who cared
Especially when you try to rhyme
Feared …. along with shared
But I hope the rhymes continue
As they appear, each time we win
Next time don’t post the first draft
This one should have found the bin

Come on all ye Sainters, it's time for you to rhyme
And if you butcher words like me it ain't a real crime
A bit of fun and banter is what we're all about
Our commitment to enjoy the ride should never be in doubt

The Dud stood on the burning deck
A pocket full of Curlys
An ump fell down between their views
The match report ended up as burly

Re: The Rhyming Saints are back
Not exactly poetry but I heard during the Collingwood game.
"Howe....now Brown"
I was waiting for the appropriate word to finish but it was obvious all night that they didn't have the cattle.

Re: The Rhyming Saints are back
The haiku and rhyme combination is a hard one..
First line - 5 syllables
Second line - 7
Third and final - 5
A wet bleak Sunday
Few backed us to win away
We win anyway
...uhmmm...not my best (o)
But I give it a shotto..

The_Dud stood on the burning deck
His pocket full of Curlys
All the umpires cheat he said
Especially that girlie
So what to do, about this cheating?
Said our "old mate' Curly
I lose the plot in match day threads
from furious to surly
It's sanctioned cheating by the AFL
They think we're a bunch of fools
And when we win despite their cheating
The bastards change the rules
Plugger & Hall, next Maxy King
the AFL will poach
Face it saints we aint improving
Until Curly is our coach
His pocket full of Curlys
All the umpires cheat he said

I call my woman Hinges
coz she is something to adore.
Didn't have time
to make it rhyme
is that a crime ?

Gidday Sainters
How do I change my user name.
I would like to be known as The Rhyming Corny Hack as a tribute to Joffa Burns who can rip out a pretty decent bush poem himself.
Cheers Grim

Re: The Rhyming Saints are back
The Saints are at the crossroads, which way will we go
Cos no fan wants to see their team disinterested and slow
The players need to clear their heads, the leaders need to lead
It's time to play the game with precision, poise and speed
So come on all you Sainters we all must play our part
By sticking fat through thick and thin our fightback now will start

As poor a performance as I can recall
They promised the world and delivered f--- all
That is all, when it’s said and done
Season over before it’s begun

What rhymes with "pathetic"?
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Man on man or not at all
It looks like we've dropped the ball
Is it way too early to quit?
But, by jingoes, we were s***

Re: The Rhyming Saints are back
Finals hopes are over
We’re weak as piss
How in gods name you ask
Did it ever come to this?
We’ve recruited some past duds
Like Mark Jackson & Rex Hunt
But none worse than Bradley Hill
The frightened little #unt
In the stands is Dan Hannebery
No, this guy doesn’t play
The Salary dump from Sydney
That’s how he came our way
What about the has-beens
Like McKernan & Mason Wood
North would have kept him
If he was any f****** good
Well everybody blamed Richo
Until he passed the batten
To a guy sacked by Carlton
A fatty named f****** Ratten
Playing like f****** millionaires
All flashy with their bling
Give up dreaming sainters
We aren’t getting Benny King
Last year we had pace and movement
We had covid, Paton & Gears
Now no Paddy, Gresh or Marshall
And pain and lots of tears
Butler ran and showed his skill
Now he’s slow unfit & stinks
I think it’s time this Butler
Reverts to serving drinks
Too many f****** midgets
Like the days of Milan Feletic
At least in the days of bald Milan
We weren’t this f****** pathetic
So another season wasted
Home crying on the couch
Could get worse in free agency
We might get another Crouch
We’re weak as piss
How in gods name you ask
