Vale Doug Parkinson
Doug Parkinson the great Australian singer passed away today.
Can anyone remember the Saints Fightback Song, as sung by Doug?
It was a ripper of a club song, especially at Moorabbin in the early 1990s. Brings back great memories.

RIP Doug
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

My mum loved Doug Parkinson. A great voice and from all accounts a devoted Saint. Rest in Peace big fella.

Was he a Saint?
I just thought he sang the song.

He is now!
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Well I assumed. I saw him at VFL Park sitting with Robert Muir once and remember Molly Meldrum making a fuss about St.Kilda with him on Hey Hey its Saturday. Thats enough for me.

Doug looked better when he was in focus.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Re: Vale Doug Parkinson
I wonder what got him.
I wonder if it was Parkinson's disease.
(Doc: I am sorry to have to tell you this Lou, but you have Lou Gehrig's disease".)

Re: Vale Doug Parkinson
The first 2 or 3 years of the 90s at the footy were fantastic years to be a saints supporter.
Plugger's presence was unprecedented in the league, the skills of Nicky Winmar, emerging stars such as Banger, Burke, Loewe, still at Moorabbin etc.
Like the title of the song, they were the "Saints Fightback" years after a decade and a half in the wilderness.
This culminated in enormous excitement including a berth in the finals of 1991 and being a real threat in 1992.
Even though we didn't quite get the chocolates, they were almost the best years to be a saints supporter.

Re: Vale Doug Parkinson
The intro to the Saints Fightback song deserves a revival. The club song at the moment must be the league's shortest.
