Bring back Savage
Ridiculous not to be offered another year - the perfect insurance back-up (and still easily AFL grade player) & now with Geary & Paton going down, he would have been the perfect replacement.

Any idea if he's fit and has been training?Peanut Farm wrote: ↑Sat 20 Feb 2021 12:29pm Ridiculous not to be offered another year - the perfect insurance back-up (and still easily AFL grade player) & now with Geary & Paton going down, he would have been the perfect replacement.
Proudly assuming the title of forum Oracle and serving as the inaugural Saintsational ‘weak as piss brigade’ President.

Re: Bring back Savage
Its a thought not without due, but still think we have sufficient depth to fill their positions. Geary would have been lucky to be best 22 and Paton who was important can be replaced. Webster & McKenzie are the most obvious then Geary when fit. Sinclair & Kent are other out of box options.

I have to agree was pretty stiff to be delisted but I doubt they will pick him up again.Peanut Farm wrote: ↑Sat 20 Feb 2021 12:29pm Ridiculous not to be offered another year - the perfect insurance back-up (and still easily AFL grade player) & now with Geary & Paton going down, he would have been the perfect replacement.

Re: Bring back Savage
Was definitely a strange list decision considering he was emg for so many games and also played well when given an opportunity to play..
Maybe it was a pay dispute or something?
Webster has hardly played for 2yrs and McKenzie hasnt really shown enough, Savage would most likely be in front of both of them...
It's not the silliest idea..

I think he was just unlucky to be out of contract at a time we needed to cut playersrealdeal wrote: ↑Sat 20 Feb 2021 9:58pm Was definitely a strange list decision considering he was emg for so many games and also played well when given an opportunity to play..

He’s a class above guys like Dmac, Webster, Joyce etc but they had deals and he didn’t and we needed to create space on the list

Sav is living in and playing for Port Fairy. Not even remotely close to Western Sydney.

Re: Bring back Savage
Jeeez, what would he be getting there? $250-$350 a game? Bloody hell Saints, I'd re-draft him in an instant and give him a 1 year contract on $150kportosaint wrote: ↑Sun 21 Feb 2021 10:53amSav is living in and playing for Port Fairy. Not even remotely close to Western Sydney.

Re: Bring back Savage
Surprisingly, there is a bit of coin thrown around these leagues for the right player. I personally know of guys here in a lesser competition than the Hampden league who get between $400 and $700 per match. Throw in a full time job, and they live OK.Peanut Farm wrote: ↑Sun 21 Feb 2021 1:58pmJeeez, what would he be getting there? $250-$350 a game? Judging by his Facebook post last year, he was quite happy to get the family out of suburbia. Not that he wouldn't jump at another shot as an AFL player...

Re: Bring back Savage
I'd be surprised if he hadn't considered a punter's gig in the NFL in the states. I know it is ultra competitive, but he is a booming straight off the line kick.portosaint wrote: ↑Sun 21 Feb 2021 2:17pmSurprisingly, there is a bit of coin thrown around these leagues for the right player.
