Lethers..... ? Considering going?
Sorry I can’t find any link to the article today.
Yesterday I was reading an article in The Western Australian, whilst having a coffee at a cafe. The article was about, who was tipped to fill the vacant CEO position at the Adelaide Crows. Someone from the West Coast was supposed to be front runner (after all it was the Western Australian newspaper I was reading in this parochial city).
As I briefly glanced through the article as I wasn’t too interested in it, one other name jumped out - Simon Lethlean, it stated that he & someone else (I think from Richmond) were contenders.
Is this common knowledge in Victoria, or is it some reporter from the West just throwing out names?

Re: Lethers..... ? Considering going?
It was reported that he was considered the top contender for the job but told The Crows that he was not interested, don't even bother calling.
So it could be many things, maybe not wanting to move interstate.
I would think that he would be a prime target soon though. 3 or 4 years at one place is normally enough. And he has runs on the board now to polish his sports resume.
Nothing better than a good Dad Joke.

Lethers should try and etch his name in sporting history as the bloke that delivered StKilda its second premiership.

Adelaide is expected to ramp up its search for a new chief executive this week but could miss out on a leading contender.
St Kilda chief operating officer Simon Lethlean has been heavily linked to the position, but the former AFL operations manager has informed the Crows he wants to stay with the Saints.
The Crows could still pursue Lethlean, but at this stage he has politely declined the opportunity.

Surely a flag or two with the Saints will prove he is up to any job he wants in the further future.

We won't make finals in 2021 if the playing group's injury list is not, somehow, curtailed, depth will already be tested without anymore mishaps.
Lethlean has a tough gig at the Saints, hope he sticks it out for a few more years.

f***, how do you stop injuries?
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

We need to recruit some nice young talent in the back office to ensure he is encouraged to stay
I think from the outside the harmony between the mature experienced club men and up and coming youth has the right balance between administration, coaching and playing cattle to provide a successful era and i would hate to see that fabric stretched by a key person like Lethlean leaving.
Looks like we all now love Lethlean, gone are the he's just an AFL plant posts.

Essendon threw the kitchen sink at him when trying to replace Dan Richardson. Stuck fat. He's very loyal to St Kilda and Finnis. When no one else would give him a job - it was us. And no - not because Gil called. That's utter bullshi!t. Good on Finnis and Summers for having the guts and good judgement to make that appointment.
Go you red, black & white warriors

That’s a Coalition thing. We don’t do that at St Kilda FCJoffa Burns wrote: ↑Sun 21 Feb 2021 11:04amWe need to recruit some nice young talent in the back office to ensure he is encouraged to stay

Re: Lethers..... ? Considering going?
Lethers was due to replace Xavier Campbell in the top job at the dopers. The deal was signed, sealed and almost delivered when things went awry.
XC had just completed a $250,000 leadership and management course in the USA and had plans to take his newly acquired brilliance to save the AFL.
The dopers were horrified that their investment was going to walk out with zero return for their considerable investment. They then demanded a refund from XC, causing him to baulk and ultimately remain in The Hangar.
The offer to Lethers was withdrawn. To the great relief of all involved, he remained a Saint. A true sliding doors moment for us, but it goes to show how quickly and easily things can change.
Lethers will get a club CEO's job sooner or later. I only hope it will be with us. I take that narrow escape as an omen. It's our time. We're way overdue.
