AGM
Surprised that there isn't any threads on this but did anyone happen to watch the stream last night? I was out so couldn't get amongst it. Would appreciate any highlights to come from it.

Re: AGM
I swear that despite the email highlighting the announcement that it was brought forward... it was sprung on us.
Club seems to make these things at the most awkward times.
I just missed it. Checked my emails late and realised it had gone

Perhaps the club will release an AGM highlights reel.

Re: AGM
It will be interesting to see what our debt currently sits at and what the debt projection will be for 2021. I'm assuming all 18 clubs are planning like we will be back in hubs at some stage.
Also would be interested to know if the details of our transition to one of the AFL's assisted club was discussed.

Re: AGM
My notes - only logged in after President was about 5 minutes or so into his introduction:
PRESIDENT:
Danny Frawley Centre building on the way
CEO:
Financials:
1. Debt reduction strategy? -
balance sheet not in a healthy position
aim to generate operating profits
forecasting profit significant this year to start pay down debt"
2. Appointment of directors -
Paul Kirk, Russel Caplan - re-elected"
General Business:
3. Cultural Safety Policy? Reaction to Collingwood situation?
Reconciliation action plan - NT trip this year stopped due to COVID; indigenous players active
4. Alternative revenues? - Bassatt
Biggest issue is to drive traditional revenue via on-field success - membership $
Some pursuit of alternative sources"
5. Why membership revenue last year not booked this year? Finnis
Easypay revenue - deferral of this last season => defer membership until November, first month this year. Other clubs did the same."
6. Remove gaming machines? Finnis
Don't expect to remove before licences expire in 2022
Continue partnering with Responsible Gambling until further transition"
7. Reserve seat preferences on game day? Finnis
Still working with AFL over game day preferences
Members will be first priority before others"
8. Logo on men's jumper? Finnis
Proud to have Deliveroo on men's jumper
Preserve the crest but add value to our partners"
9. Danny Frawley centre - specific capabilities - Finnis
Club focus on early intervention - incl. players (past and present), coaches, community
Building to be finished xmas 2021 "
More in coming months
10. Why new crest black and white but no red? Finnis
New Balance has partner - try new things - trial it and see how well it goes down"
Coach - Brett Ratten Speech:
Season reflection
- lot of adversity with COVID - move to Qld, etc."
- players adapted very well
- created a good bond that worked
- Coffield bloosomed
- new players clicked
- first final win very pleasing; thank fans and supporters
Moving forward- video package:
new players - ""Together we rise"""
McKernan, Frawley - add experience
Crouch - excitement machine, good up ground
Highmore - quiet, works well
Allison - rangy, great promise
Tinkered with game plan
Pres-season best - Gresham, Ryder back
Sinclair outstanding, Paton, King bigger, Clark more midfield and adds depth
List in good shape, Gears a loss
2021:
Expectations - should be aiming finals, want to play finals again
need to be selfless, share the load, support each other - on and off the field
Thanks to the fans
Looking forward to playing at Marvel
Questions to Ratten:
1. Young team have good year then experience bad year - steps
- take pride in performance, know have to take it further, keep pushing forward
2. Senior team training - advertised?
- love to see supporters at ground, will be advertised
3. Round 1 - injuries?
Geary - touch anfd go, otherwise at close to full strength
4. Battle - content as swingman
Yes he is content, Ultimate swing man, very talented
5. Dylan Roberton?
Going pretty well, helping with coaching, taking it easy, working with doctor, helping Highmore and younger players to fast track them, take it slow with him
6. Captain given Gears injured?
Leadership group votes recently gathered, Gears may bounce back, discuss later
7. Coaching staff off-season - what to bond diverse new players?
Not a big issue, Billings had new players around, get some social connections in/around club e.g. player's partners.

Re: AGM
Thanks 8bloggs
If Coff "bloosomed" then I'd suggest similarly Clark sproouted significantly. Was a highlight to see both men just get better and better. Along with the way Marshall goes from strength to strength.
I am purposely ignoring the debt.
Worried about dropping red from the crest, but - could NB live with yellow?

Have been thinking how much better Clark and Coffield were as early selections than Dunstan and Acres.

Re: AGM
Interesting that Basset makes comment about generating revenue from on field success.
Although they say the balance sheet isn't healthy I'm surprised our debt only went up by $1 million in 2020.
I'd be interested to see more meat on the bone with regards to Bassets comment regarding finding alternative revenue sources.
I'd say with a $13 million dollar debt we will need some income real soon.
Let's hope COVID allows full strength comp real soon.

Re: AGM
Luke Dunstan was pretty impressive straight up, playing a senior role pretty early in a team on the decline. Coffield took his time and Clark was nursed into it.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sat 06 Feb 2021 3:47pmWhile true you are comparing picks 7/8 with 18/19minneapolis wrote: ↑Sat 06 Feb 2021 4:36am Have been thinking how much better Clark and Coffield were as early selections than Dunstan and Acres.

There was a separate media release from Basset after the AGM (sorry I don't have a link to it) where he made it quite clear that the revenue focus will be on growing membership first, to enable debt reduction, and then pursuing alternative revenue sources. He believes 60,000 to 70,000 members needs to be achieved to provide enough core revenue to enable debt reduction, and that requires on-field success. Can't argue with his logic so let's hope it happens.

Re: AGM
I didn't pick up the specific piece of kit referred to but it was in response to a member question mailed into the club. The answer focussed a lot on the deal with New Balance ( I think?) and how they were trying out new designs or something along those lines. Maybe somebody else can explain??

Basset did say on a recent SEN interview with Garard Wately that sustained on field success will have a positive flow on effect in growing membership, attendances, and attracting more sponsors.Vortex wrote: ↑Sat 06 Feb 2021 7:45am Interesting that Basset makes comment about generating revenue from on field success.

I reckon a grade 5 primary school student could conclude a footy club is capable of making some quick bucks if they have some onfield success.
I apologise in advance for being negative becuase I'm generally positive about most aspects of how the club is currently being managed but if that is the Prez's grand plan for setting our club up for the long term then all I can say is I hope this current list turns into a fourpeat winning dynasty.
Makes sound business sense doesn't it.
