Number 5

Post: # 1886483Post st sandy »

So who will be given the prestigious number 5 from 2021
to follow the likes of Aussie Jones, Joffa Cunninghham, Ian Stewart, Barry Lawrence, Gilbert McAdam

Higgins
Crouch - did he have the number at crows?
Howard - bring him up the order from 20
Next unused numbers are 22 & 27 (24 to Frawley being Dan's old number)
I would like to see some longevity in the number - so probably Higgins for me

Why don't footy teams use much higher numbers, can they if they want to? For example 55, 66 or 99.

They used to. I guess the lists got smaller or something. No. 60 Robert Mace comes to mind.

I think a player like Jack Higgins is potential cult figure material at the Saints and so why not go for a number that has the potential to become iconic. We had an iconic 44, why not a 55 or 66. Jack could pull it off.

Like Jonathan Patton?

Dean Ross 1979

"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

I'd like Higgins but suspect Crouch, unless Crouch decides on 22 to be twice the player his brother is.

Betting man says...

5 Crouch

22 Higgins

Of course Paton may ask for an upgrade unless he's bidding his time to inherit Geary's number.

Crouch had #2 at the crows, likely to get 5 with us, Higgins had 22 at training this week & Allison had 30...Frawley is likely to get his uncle's original #24.
