They didn't invite any players to train, that's what's intriguing.Saintmike65 wrote: ↑Sat 19 Dec 2020 10:43amWayne42 wrote: ↑Fri 18 Dec 2020 8:44pmGood question, going by Ace's list there are 2 x Main List vacancies, 3 x Rookie A list vacancies and 1 x Rookie B list vacancy.
Why are they going into 2021 with that many list spots vacant, they must have a plan but it's not obvious to this supporter, that's for sure.
I heard there could be up to 6 players invited to train with us.

Re: Permission to Train / Rookie List
Is there a limit to the number of players in the mid year draft? ie If you have 3 list vacancies can you take 3 players then?
Maybe we will keep all 3 spots till then so we can pick players after seeing them lay for half a season in 2021.

Can they select players in the SSP, from January 6 until March 9 2021, even though they didn't train with the club during the Pre-Season ?saintsRrising wrote: ↑Wed 23 Dec 2020 11:19pmIs there a limit to the number of players in the mid year draft? ie If you have 3 list vacancies can you take 3 players then?

Re: Permission to Train / Rookie List
According to BF we do have players in line to train after the 6th Jan, be interested to see who they are? If I am reading it right we have 2 senior list spots and 1 rookie vacant so it will make things interesting.

Re: Permission to Train / Rookie List
We do have 2 primary list places but it is only by not filling those that we have 3 rookie A spots free.
So we can add 3 primary/rookie A players of whom only 2 can be primary.
Then we can fill 1 rookie B place
We have 40 players already, the limit is 44.

Re: Permission to Train / Rookie List
we will not add any more to the primary list. There is just no incentive to do that. We basically have 3 rookie spots that we are able to fill. Adding to the rookie rather than primary list means we can put 80,000 outside the salary cap for each one. So going with only 36 primary listed players saves us quite some salary cap spaceWayne42 wrote: ↑Mon 28 Dec 2020 8:36pmThanks for the clarification ace.

Re: Permission to Train / Rookie List
I carnt see the club not filling primary spots otherwise why wouldn't we keep Matty Parker, savage or one of the other delisted players.
Plus if we get a lot of injurys could be deviating if we are close to finals.

Former North Melbourne forward Mason Wood has begun training with St Kilda in the hope of landing a spot on the club's list for 2021.
The Kangaroos delisted the mobile forward at the end of 2020 after 65 games, with the 27-year-old struggling to find consistency after he showed great promise early in his career, which began at North Melbourne in 2013.

Re: Permission to Train / Rookie List
Mason Wood is training with the Saints. God knows why NM delisted him. One of the very few players that had talent there. Would take him in a heart beat.
