Hind to Dopers for Free
St Kilda traded Nick Hind and pick 77 to Essendon for picks 67 and 74.
When pick 67 advanced to pick 56 St Kilda called PASS so failed to use either pick as did Essendon with pick 74.
That means Saints actually gave Hind away for free.

Re: Hind to Dopers for Free
I feel the decision may have been based on penny pinching, we have a lot of contract negotiations to complete that will eat away at our cap this year. Was Hind out of contract, if so, its probably Hind had an argument to want more than we valued him at, with Byrne and Connelly waiting in the wings?

Just got squeezed out as we now have mote and better players and list size is smaller.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Thu 10 Dec 2020 8:14amI feel the decision may have been based on penny pinching, we have a lot of contract negotiations to complete that will eat away at our cap this year. So like Savage good enough to have stayed for depth, but not good enough to be regular first 22 anymore.
Stiff for both that we had some contracted players like Dmak who should have gone first.

Yeah I agree with most of the above
The harder thing to get your head around is that these lit management decisions don’t necessarily happen chronology in terms of who you rate in order...
By that, I mean whilst it’s not like for like, guys like Phillips, Parker, Hind, Savage were pbly preferred to say a Joyce, Kent or Dmac (at a guess) but likely none of them feature in the long term plans but some have contracts and others don’t

Re: Hind to Dopers for Free
Watched Port game the other day and Hind was terrific.
Unfortunately went off the boil in the second half of the season.
Probably more comfortable playing HBF...but who is he going to push out there?
Good luck to him...shame he has gone to the Bombers though
