Not sure if it would be a good choice for a pre game anthem but it is a hell of a song & one of my very favourite Paul Kelly tunes

Great song, catchy tune but pity Kelly can't sing.

Everyone to their own I personal think he is a pretty handy singer but his song writing is IMO his best attribute. He's a story teller & his songs make you think about the bigger picture

I believe that there is an opportunity to further immortalize Spud by someone close to him selecting a few of his favorite songs, put it to the members vote (or no vote necessary if there is a standout tune that's appropriate) and go with that for our pre-game song. Port's came on the back of the John McCarthy tragedy, and Liverpool's YNWA importance was solidified following the Hillsborough disaster in 1989. This would be meaningful, organic, and something every Sainter would embrace imo.

If this is a serious thread for a pre game song I’d say the following from very successful pre-game anthems.

- Needs to be relatively slow song
- Have meaning on different level and be adaptable to your clubs position
- Well known so every body sings the chorus
- Uplifting
- Timeless and appealing from young to old

For me one song stands out:

Imagine - John Lennon

Can you imagine 30,000 Saints fans in chorus singing this pre game. Could also be the 2021 season theme: Imagine

- Needs to be relatively slow song - AGREED You'll never walk alone is 114 beats per minute, Never tear us apart is 97 BPM, the OP song is 110 BPM
- Have meaning on different level and be adaptable to your clubs position - DISAGREE There is no need to have a different meaning. Up there Cazaly is only about football. Why not a song only about St Kilda?
- Well known so every body sings the chorus - NEITHER AGREE OR DISAGREE - But that means using (and paying/royalties) for someone else's song unless they gifted us the use.
- Uplifting - AGREED
- Timeless and appealing from young to old - AGREED No head banging bulls***

The only place I could see it working would be as the theme song to the ‘Unpluggered’ podcast.

I don’t know about a pre-song game...
BUT

I think a chant or opposition disser...as long as it is funny and catchy ...could be great....

Say we are playing Richmond and that prick of a tall forward gives away a fifty ....at that moment...we could break out with four lines that all the fans know and then just drop the name of the player we want to slag in a “slot” at the end of the ditty....

That would be neat....

And as we are St Kilda...we are supposed to more musical than most.

I mean , can you imagine anyone from Collingwood or Geelong being able to sing? Essendon fans are so wooden and stiff, can”t imagine it. North Melbourne and Carlton fans on the other hand, may be more creative...so we should be the first.

Would love to see played on the screens at docklands pre game Greg the stop sign by Tism .
I think the songs ok and some of the lyrics could be relevant to many of our younger players but what I always loved about the video is the scenes at Moorabbin.
Especially the locker room . Was lucky enough to get into there a couple of times as a kid after a win .
Amazing atmosphere.
The modern change rooms look devoid of any life and character these days.
