I just went through Cal Twomey's November draft update and from his Top 25 prospects I counted 7 who have ties to clubs through this Next Gen Academy rubbish. So our Pick 21 is likely 28. I hope we've done our homework & have half a dozen names ready to call out should one of them slide.
God the NGA academies absolutely ruin the draft, doggies getting the best player in the land for 2nd rd's is rediculous

It is. Disgraceful. Thank god they’re getting the ar$e at the end of this draft
Why do some clubs have huge chunks of Vic as well as huge areas interstate but others like st kilda only have a small melb area.....smells similar to zoning allocated to us before draft.
Hawthorn always said zoning was the making of the their club
We got stitched up in the early 1970s when all the zones changed. We lost the Mornington Peninsula, which was ridiculous. That meant we missed out on players like Leigh Matthews and Dermott Brereton, along with many others. It was a turning point for our club and you have to wonder about the back room deals that were done to favour certain clubs. Since then, there have been clubs that have been able to gain influence and favourable deals from the AFL commission, while we have not.
The same back room deals, elbow twisting, and palm greasing still plays a big part in how things work in the AFL. It was particularly bad under Demetriou.
Of course, Demetriou has been embarrassed by a recent investigation intoCrown Casino money laundering, where he was exposed for lying to the investigation.....surprise, surprise

Come the night there will be a lot of queue jumping for academy picks before St Kilda gets a look in.
Bulldogs - Jamarra Ugle-Hagan
Swans - Braeden Campbell
Port - Lachie Jones
Gold Coast - Alex Davies
Gold Coast - Joel Jeffrey
Sydney - Errol Gulden
Hawthorn - Connor Downie
Who have I missed, those picks will all come from behind and queue jump St Kilda.
Maybe Collingwood - Reef McInnes too.
If they are all the jumps then our first pick will be pick 28 on the night.

Players available will be unknown quantities but Gags has said Saints will not be targeting any type of player instead taking the best available at that pick.

Demetriou also involved in an education scam company. The guy is as dodgy as they come and should be in prison IMHO.
Jake Bowey (would have to change that name to Jack to fit in) is the same size as Lonie.
Shorter by 4cm than Gresham and Hill and 10kg lighter.

Very true. From memory he had a role in the Essendope fiasco that was the equivalent of perverting the course of justice if those involved could have been charged criminally.

I don't think any prison would take him.
All the prisoners would revolt in protest against being incarcerated with him.

Back half of the draft.
Yes that is our position at 21 now but most likely 28 on the night.
AFL .com .au estimates a minimum of 50 to a maximum of 63 picks will be made this draft.
If we end up at 28 we could be at the beginning of the back half.
Picks 64, 67, 74 only if we want to compete with North for the last pick of the night.

I'd be very happy if we got either Brayden Cook or Caleb Poulter with our first pick.
Both are a good size and play forward/ mid with a bit of flair.
One or both may still be available for our pick, if not, Tom Powell is a ball magnet that might be a good fit.

I reckon we've got enough small players, Gresham and Higgins will alternate mid/ forward...Bowie too small & not physically strong enough, as is Lonie.

Though with all the Academy Picks (and multiple picks consumed to match bids) and with not all clubs taking 2 or more players in the draft while 21 slides back our other picks will slide forward.
There may well some worthwhile players still with our second and third picks if we still use them.

Why does Collingfilth get Oakleigh? That's in our own backyard FFS!!
