Are we chasing Frawley because Carlisle might still be on the table?

We have Carlisle who has not re signed who we do want but is getting no interest from other clubs.
We have Joyce who is contracted for one more year but probably not wanted.
We have Clavarino who is yet to debut out of contract.
We have players who we do wnt to keep who will be delisted to fit into the list size.
And yet some are suggesting this joke to add to the number.

Why not add Hugh Goddard too.

Precisely. And remember too that Frawley won't be on the primary list ... he'll be a rookie. Costs nothing in terms of a Draft Pick and his salary would be minimum 'chips'.

I'll let myself out

Yeah, that’s how I was looking at it too.

Joining the jots ...but tbh...I can’t join ‘em.

I believed...
1) Howard was all at sea in at least two games...and too much is expected of him
2) Brown left knowing Carlisle was iffy
3) Carlisle is iffy and but was dropped for some reason we’ll never know....
4) Clav and Logan obviously not rated
5) Roberton...on good coin....in the stands...medically Cautious?
6) Battle isn’t gonna be a stand in FB
7) our list is getting old
8) our list has few stars....17th in Browlnlow points
9) our list is middle of the road experience wise
10) I believe Brown could have helped us make a preliminary...should not have been allowed to retire..

Interesting.

Our list is getting old?

I thought we had one of the youngest lists in the league in 2020.

Not sure about your other points either but carry on.

Browns out as is Austin
Keep Clavarino
Joyce is on the list but destined for the scrap heap

As long as we keep turning the list over I cannot for the life of me see a downside to adding Frawley for a year or two

Because he is done

If we are going for insurance (a term I hate you don’t see the successful clubs doing it) then at least go for versatility.. Mckernan can play a couple of positions

Frawley on tram tracks plays 1 position

Why not go for Majak or Westhoff if you want cover

Relatively old considering our development arc...i.e. we are new kids on the block, but we are seventh oldest listwise.

So I think they believe these pinch hitters at 32 are a good idea because they can fill gaps, without getting in the way of youth...they’ll be grateful for a year or two...until of course, they decide to quit mid season...and we are left in the lurch seasons end at a finals match.

Have any of you guys in favour of this watched him play this year, absolutely done..

And for those who say it doesn’t cost us anything ... it does

1 it costs us a place on a reduced list that could be used for someone who may give us more than a year ( and I include McKernan in this), so now 2 spots going to aged 1 year list fillers

2 it costs us the potential development of a younger player, look at Brisbane , they played their young Jack Payne when they had to ( I think 3 or 4 games for the year).

The club would want to make damn sure that these players come in with motivation a plenty and not just see it as a benefit, otherwise this could be crippling to our young players morale
100% agree with you terry, I dislike bringing in stop gaps however I was vehemently against recruiting Paddy Ryder who was overweight and lacked mobility in his last year at Port Adelaide and was completely wrong on that one as he showed up fit and ready to fire.

Ratts gave opportunity to Long, Wilkie, Paton & Coffield and backed them in where under the past regime I'm sure Savage, Webster, Geary, Mckenzie & Roberston may have been preferred.

I think if Clav was up to it he'd have got a game when Carslile was dropped.

I'm hoping Clav makes it this year even if signed on as a rookie as I really like his marking ability.

Instead of McKernan I wanted Wright and really hope we don't take Frawley.
I wouldn't underestimate the impact a guy like Nathan Brown had on the younger guys in the defence group. I've also seen Ratts and Roughie mentoring live in matches with Clark, Coffield and Paton. All clubs have these mentors, its nothing new, but Clark, Coffield and Paton have been listening and the results are obvious. From all accounts, Spuds enthusiasm and passion for mentoring has been passed on to his nephew.
Given a reduced load and time to just train and get fit, who knows how effective Chips could be if needed midseason or coming into finals. One thing for sure is, if he can get fit, you'd put him straight in, when needed.

I hope Clav gets an opportunity at senior level in 2021 and is not delisted beforehand. I thought he was looking likely and was on the verge of selection until he got injured and never came back. He could be our answer going forward. He just needs a good couple of summers in the gym to build up a bit and he would the perfect Carlisle replacement. I really hope we get to see (and he gets to see) if he has what it takes.

St Kilda's recruiters have made very good calls in the past few years and if they believe Chips Frawley can make a positive contribution, either on or off-field, then I'm prepared to back them in.

If nothing else, you'd expect him to be quite passionate about playing for his much admired late uncle's team.

It could be because he is still in country Victoria.

Could be in Moama, NSW on the other side of the border to Echuca where wife has been staying.
Is EssenDan preventing him from entering Victoria without quarantine ?

I have not heard or seen any news on baby.
Needs 38 more games to qualify for Saint's Father-Son (100 games) already qualified for Father-Daughter (presently 1 game)
Played 85 games at Dopers so not eligible.

No rush, unlike Eddie's Filth, St Kilda is a club of honourable men and women.

His manager said that he’ll be hungry and passionate about performing at his best if he does sign with the Saints. He's a proven premiership KP defender and I reckon we can nurse both Chipper and Jake so that they don’t burn out before the pointy end. Maybe even give Howard a rest when he needs it.

Chip lost his passion and I reckon he had a few mates at Hawthorn who were in a similar position and a few people mistake that for a guy that’s past it. When you have consistently played in September and won premierships it gets a bit monotonous just turning up when you know your team is out of the finals race.

Frawley will be invaluable as a defacto coach and as a back up too if Carlisle or Howard have injuries.

Is Chips a result of a careful planning scenario?

Now that Geelong have two gorillas, if The Saints play Geelong in The Big One do we need two gorilla tamers? Howard and Frawley on Cameron and Hawkins?
