Essendon offer for Hind
DONS MAKE HIND OFFER - 2.30PM
Tom Morris reports...
Essendon has tabled a fourth round pick for St Kilda speedster Nick Hind.
Foxfooty.com.au understands the Saints are weighing up the proposal up.
The Bombers like Hind’s pace and believe they could potentially get him via the pre-season draft if needed.
Hind played VFL for Essendon in 2017 and 2018 but was overlooked before joining the Saints as a mature age recruit.
He played 10 matches in 2020 but fell out of favour late in the campaign.
I know he is not contracted but surely he is better than any kid we are going to get in the 60-70's at the draft. I rate him higher than Lonie & Kent and Lonie has a 1 year contract in front of him. This not knowing what the list sizes are going to be is ridiculous - so unprofessional by the AFPA & AFL.

Just f*** Essendon
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Get rid of Lonie and keep Hind

Re: Essendon offer for Hind
I fear that if Higgins comes in then the necessary reduction in list size will force St Kilda to delist Hind.
St Kilda has a few too many contracted list cloggers that are not wanted by rivals at their contract price.
Joyce, McKenzie, Dunstan, Webster, Roberton no takers.
Dildo is aware of this dilemna and will try to exploit.
A few clubs may look if Hind becomes a delisted free agent so Dildo is trying to acquire him for free a bit earlier.

Re: Essendon offer for Hind
When is it depth and when is it list clogging?
McKenzie clearly a clogger
Dunstan, Webster and Roberton are good depth (although with their salary it is probably clogging)
Joyce - I simply don't know, has he got upside?

Re: Essendon offer for Hind
Looks about right to me, happy to let him go but given its Essendon I'd want more but they will probably get him in the pre-season draft or draft for #80 odd anyway.
He is back up and a very handy back up, but a long way off a best 22 player.
Behind Higgins, Butler, Gresham, Billings, Sinclair, Lonie & Geary as a small forward and behind Paton, Clark, Coffield, Long, Geary & Savage in the back half.
Nowhere near good enough for the midfield.

Re: Essendon offer for Hind
He is not really going to get much of a look in so I say accept the offer.
The 60-70 picks are where you can chase the really out there choices.
The sort of players who are extremely unlikely to make it but may have one or two outstanding attributes.
It is no surprise that the better sides find more players in these ranges than teams down the bottom because they have the luxury of speculating.
For a side with a reasonable list if a player in that range doesn't ever play a game it is no real loss.
However, for a side down the bottom they need all their picks to be a chance to play.
Thankfully right now our list puts us in a position to afford to speculate.

Re: Essendon offer for Hind
I'd only be ok with Hind going for a 4th if that pick was on-traded to the Tigers with our future 2nd for Jack Higgins. If it's a standalone deal ... no to that. The Jabbers can go fvck themselves - 3rd round or nada nix nought.

Re: Essendon offer for Hind
When there’s 5 other players in the team that play that exact position and are ahead of the player concerned
It was a moronic decision at the time that was derided by all except the Richo apologists

Re: Essendon offer for Hind
2018 Draft the mature ready made recruit draft.
Following King #4 & Bytel #41 we took....
#47 - Parker - delisted
#54 - Hind - looks likely to be traded
#67 - Young - delisted
The success story being #3 in the rookie draft Cal Wilkie.
I don't mind the strategy, they had a crack.
Hind was handy back up and given non covid list reduction there was enough freakish raw talent in Parker that he could have made it and may still do so somewhere else in a year or two.
Wilkie was rated behind Parker, Hind & Young but looked like a 200 gamer from AFL debut.

Re: Essendon offer for Hind
Hind is more important to us than Lonie.
Since we have this "run and gun" game style and have decided to switch from small forwards that are pigeon holed to the pocket (i.e. Lonie).
The way I see it is that with Hind's speed, he is a direct backup for Butler.
He kicked 3 goals on his opposite foot in a game this year.
The guy is a good depth player that is cheap to own.
Hope he stays.

Re: Essendon offer for Hind
Exactly! Hind has footy skills and smarts a plenty. More versatile than Lonie and has raw speed which, is a huge bonus at Marvel.bakes wrote: ↑Wed 11 Nov 2020 4:23pm Hind is more important to us than Lonie.

Hind only goes if that pick is ABSOLUTELY required to get Jack Higgins in.
If not - fvck off Injectors.

Re: Essendon offer for Hind
Agree with you 100% - Hind really suits our game style and I just can't forget his Sydney game - I'd be really disappointed if we let him go and more so if he goes to injectors for a 4th rounder. I'd definitely be trading a few others out before Hind.bakes wrote: ↑Wed 11 Nov 2020 4:23pm Hind is more important to us than Lonie.
