What about Bytel and King?whiskers3614 wrote: ↑Fri 30 Oct 2020 9:27pm Nobody concerned about his condition?
After Paddy, Roberton, Kobe Stevens, Freeman and Hanneberry you'd reckon we'd be somewhat gun shy of blokes with pre-existing problems!
Both young blokes seem to have come good
Let’s ride our luck and get Higgins in now

Re: Jack Higgins
Is the best argument for JH that he is thought to possibly be "better" than Jack Lonie based on playing at the feet of Reiwoldt and Lynch, next to Dusty, in a triple premiership side. And L. Neale and Zorco are under 180cm so all players under 180 could be stars. We can bring more compelling logic to our recruitment process than that, can't we.

I think there is a difference between a past problem which is likely to re-occur or which has not gone ie Koby, and probably Paddy) and a past problem which is not likely to happen again Higgins).
Roberton has a device fitted to make his problem no longer life threatening and so is in a class of his own.
And then there are the Hanneberry's where hey wil play, but you are just not sure how often.
Freeman got over his problem BUT in doing so lost his express pace which meant that he became a GOP as that was his main point of difference.

Re: Jack Higgins
I think it is not just that he is thought to be better, and there are several reasons for this including earlier draft selection, but that also his pre-AFL record indicates that he is capable of playing inside midfield time even if it is only for some rotations.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Sat 31 Oct 2020 8:45am Is the best argument for JH that he is thought to possibly be "better" than Jack Lonie based on playing at the feet of Reiwoldt and Lynch, next to Dusty, in a triple premiership side. So one could envisage that our inside midfield in 2021 could see:
- Gresh and Higgins rotating between them through the FP and midfield along with Hannas
- Steele playing midfield and pushing forward like he did this season
- Crouch, and Bytel playing substantive midfield time
- Jones swapping between inside and outside midfield roles.
- Clark playing more and more midfield time, and possibly even fulltime rotations It may be that Clark and Jones rotate midfield and HB between them).
Dunstan would appear to be gone, and Ross might be as well if a reasonable deal is on offer.
On the outside midfield you have Hill and Billings along with Jones). Sinclair should survive too as he is such a good ball user, though may get squeezed out.
Kent and Hind to struggle to get a game. Along with Lonie one or two of these three may not be with us in 2021.
Small forwards drops to only one specialised small forward in Butler, but supported by Higgins and Gresh rotating through another spot with Gresh having more midfield time)

Re: Jack Higgins
Effectively we could have Gresh/Higgins swapping forward and Steele/Crouch swapping forward. Crouch knows where the big sticks are. He kicked 11 in 19. Steele kicked 11 this year. If we could get 20 goals out of the two of them in 21 with Gresh and Higgins regularly hitting the scoreboard, our midfield really starts to hurt other teams.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Sat 31 Oct 2020 9:54amI think it is not just that he is thought to be better, and there are several reasons for this including earlier draft selection, but that also his pre-AFL record indicates that he is capable of playing inside midfield time even if it is only for some rotations.Yorkeys wrote: ↑Sat 31 Oct 2020 8:45am Is the best argument for JH that he is thought to possibly be "better" than Jack Lonie based on playing at the feet of Reiwoldt and Lynch, next to Dusty, in a triple premiership side. Re: Jack Higgins
Agree with the above, I reckon the club sees Higgins as a player who can play some midfield time as well as forward in the same role as Gresham. So he not just a forward pocket but a midfielder also.

Re: Jack Higgins
Higgins hasn't requested a trade and according to Gags the club WON'T be trading it's 2020 first round pick, our next pick is around 60 so
it would have to involve a future pick if this potential trade ever becomes a reality.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Jack Higgins
I wonder whether the Lonie situation is the hold up? If its going to happen surely Higgins requests a trade by COB Monday.

Re: Jack Higgins
Stephenson disappears when things get physical. I don't blame him. He's a whippet playing against dobermans. Might have an off-field issue?? Such a talented player, so it makes you wonder why Collingwood are so keen to move him on. Higgins doesn't mind it when the heat comes on, but Richmond have so many surplus players of his type, and i suspect they have some concerns over whether his brain bleed issue is something that could happen again.
