Adelaide will match our offer forcing a trade.
Adelaide trade Crouch and pick 20 and pick 50 to St Kilda
St Kilda trade pick 15 and pick 58 and Dunstan to Adelaide
Source - My friends wife works for one of Adelaide's masseurs.
The deal is heavily in our favour still so in effect we still get Crouch "free" with just a 5 pick downgrade and salary dump Dunstan.
I can promise you after we lodge the paperwork Adelaide will not be matching the offer and he will get to us as a FA.
Good to hear. Is today the last day of free agency

Re: This is how the Crouch deal will go down.......
Would be silly of Adelaide & ST Kilda not to take advantage of the free pick on offer for Crouch.
If FA compensation is deemed insufficient a side deal can be orchestrated to add some value for Adelaide.
Different beast for GWS and Cameron as he warrants two first rounders every day if the week.

If Adelaide matches the Saints offer for Crouch will the Saints try and work out a suitable trade or will they walk away and tell Adelaide, he's yours ?

Didn't Melbourne get pick 2 or 3 for James Frawley as compensation?

I think your statement should be “Frawley is not as good as Crouch”.

Re: This is how the Crouch deal will go down.......
So, the offer is nowhere near what the Crows were hoping and the media were reporting. Turns out the market for injury-prone, turnover-prone inside mids isn't quite what Trade Radio thinks it is. I admire the restraint our club has shown in negations. I also have to laugh at the suggestion we would overpay Crouch for 4/5 years just to keep the Crows happy.
I think they're nuts if they match. I feel like we could very easily Luke Ball him. We're actually better off for next year if we use our first pick on Crouch rather than trade it. I assume we couldn't Jack Martin him, but who knows? Do they really want to run back a Crouch/Crouch/Laird/Sloane midfield while they're rebuilding?

I can live with a slide from 15 to 23 for Crouch.... better not to overpay him.
The draft is pretty even from what I can gather....and with little exposed form it may not be that big a difference anyway.

Didn’t Jaxons say that Adelaide won’t match? AFL site is saying they have 72 hours to decide and are looking like they will match

Yes and yes. But he’s saying the Crows won’t match. So we do a pick swap. Give them our first rounder and get back what the AFL awarded them as compo. Probably 23.amusingname wrote: ↑Sun 01 Nov 2020 9:37pmDidn’t Jaxons say that Adelaide won’t match? AFL site is saying they have 72 hours to decide and are looking like they will match

Doesn’t work like that, they don’t get the compo if they match. If they match it’s either trade him, he stays with the crows or he doesn’t sign and goes to the draft where he has no control over where he goes.damienc wrote: ↑Sun 01 Nov 2020 10:08pmYes and yes. But if we do a trade for an adelaide listed player (eg back up ruckman) they don't want/need for exchange of our first pick and 23. This to appease adelaide to not matchamusingname wrote: ↑Sun 01 Nov 2020 10:22pmDoesn’t work like that, they don’t get the compo if they match. Roughly equal to pick 1 and 53 if Geelong gave up all 3.
The first 2 of those picks are equal to pick 3, the last of those picks 2 picks equal to pick 4.
Otherwise compensation is pick 11 (which will slip on the night) only worth 1329 points.
Screw Geelong, long enough to make them cry out Gee.

Re: This is how the Crouch deal will go down.......
As it stands at the moment assuming GWS matches Geelong's contract for Jeremy Cameron, otherwise all pick numbers slip by 1.
St Kilda has a first round pick 17, 5 picks ahead of Adelaide's second round pick at 22.
St Kilda offers Adelaide a pick swap so Adelaide advances to 17 St Kilda slips to 22.
Adelaide does not match St Kilda's contract for Crouch.
Adelaide receives an end of first round pick as compensation so that is pick 22 and St Kilda slips to pick 23.
St Kilda has effectively moved Adelaide's pick forward by 6 places worth 210 points.
But the AFL will not allow a direct swap that disadvantages St Kilda for no reason.
The AFL will want to see something coming back to St Kilda in picks or a player.
However before the free agency compensation the move is only 180 points.
Adelaide has a host of picks which before the compensation include 1, 9, 17, 32, 39, 49, 55, 65, 79
They won't want to use them all.
Pick 79 offers St Kilda 0 points, pick 65 offers 90 points so try it on.
If the AFL rejects then pick 55 offers St Kilda 207 points they certainly can't reject a move that gives St Kilda 27 points.
Now Adelaide does not match and gets pick 22 as compensation.
So the likely deal is first St Kilda swaps their first round pick for Adelaide's second round pick and gets pick 65 for the move (pick 55 if the AFL objects).
Adelaide does not match and gets pick 22 as compensation slipping all other later picks by 1 place.
From Adelaide's perspective they are getting pick 17 for Crouch, valuing him at 1025 points, a late first round pick.
Adelaide then has picks 1, 9, 17, 22, 33, 40 ,50, 56, 80 and all future picks
St Kilda then has picks 23, 64, 66 and all future picks
There can then be trading including future picks to sweeten the deal further for Adelaide if needed.
It all comes down to what Adelaide wants - they can only get what St Kilda actually has in a trade.
It's doable, lets do it.
Trade period starts Wednesday.
Do the trade first then later that day Adelaide tells AFL not matching Crouch's contract.
DONE
