Dopers interested in Hind
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/bom ... 56ahc.html
“Essendon are eyeing St Kilda speedster Nick Hind in a bid to replenish the Bombers' heavily hit pace stocks.
Sources familiar with the situation indicated Essendon were making a serious pitch for Hind, whom the Bombers overlooked in 2017 and 2018 despite being right under their noses.”
Will be interesting to see who gets moved on and what we receive in return. Trade period is more intriguing this year on the back of last year’s action.

I like Hind but it seems like he’s surplus to requirements.st.byron wrote: ↑Sun 01 Nov 2020 1:26pm https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/bom ... 56ahc.html

It’s looking like all of Kent, Lonie and Hind will be phased out... interesting to note that the one that played the most games in 2020 is also the only one of the three to not have attracted any interest.
Wonder what he’s worth.
Seems as though we’re being linked to the Bombers a but now between Hurley, Ross, Hind etc.

Fringe and depth player. Even more if Higgins comes and Gresham plays forward more.

Re: Dopers interested in Hind
Nick Hind has rare pace and breakaway speed......his game against Sydney this year was unbelievable and shows what he's capable of, just needs to do it consistently. I'd hate to let him go....

I feel like this as well but when we have Kent, Lonie, Hind and Parker we can only keep two at most if we are fortunate enough to nab Higgins.silverhalo wrote: ↑Sun 01 Nov 2020 2:36pm Nick Hind has rare pace and breakaway speed......his game against Sydney this year was unbelievable and shows what he's capable of, just needs to do it consistently. Tony Antrobus & Max Crow said they’d consider it.

Re: Dopers interested in Hind
Would Hind want to go back to the Bombers, at least this time he'd be on their list, would we miss him if he went.
One less depth player on the Saints list.
One less depth player on the Saints list.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

I agree. Let the Bombers have Kent and we will keep Hind.silverhalo wrote: ↑Sun 01 Nov 2020 2:36pm Nick Hind has rare pace and breakaway speed......his game against Sydney this year was unbelievable and shows what he's capable of, just needs to do it consistently. I'd hate to let him go....

Would much rather have Hind on the list than Kent, but neither are crucial I guess.

Some teams have extra large bodies and some are just athletes. Hind should still be valuable to us much of the time

Re: Dopers interested in Hind
Hind can play forward, mid and defence which makes him a handy depth player. I’d probably try to keep him unless it is an offer too good to refuse.

Re: Dopers interested in Hind
Would not think our offer to Hind would be large.. If bombers offered him more money and an extra year.. Such as two years assuming we are offering one... I don't think we will match them.
Decent depth player but that will be weighed against salary cap and future list management.
Also may see more opportunity to play up the field at bombers which may be enticing.

Would like to keep him. His pace is an asset and with games back at Marvel next year, pace is going to be our biggest weapon. If the offer is to good to pass up, for him or the club, then best wishes to him.

Re: Dopers interested in Hind
as per always it depends what we get for him. he does have upside but it may not be much. hew is quick but he doesn't have a lot of other abilities that make him stand out

Re: Dopers interested in Hind
He is exactly the sort of player that deals can be made for.
He is not a best 22 player for us, particularly if we can get Higgans, but he is also not without some trade value being young and quick.
His best is very good but his best is a rare beast as we have seen.
I would happily do a trade for either him or Parker as I don't think either are in our best going forward.

Re: Dopers interested in Hind
If the Dopers want him, and we're prepared to let him go, then Dildoro is going to have to cough up something reasonable to get him.
Not a pick in the 100's
He is the perfect player for us to dig our heels in with Essendope and exact some retribution for having to put up with their trade shenanigans over the years.
He's not going to cost a lot to keep so if the deal is 'too hard 'for Dildoro then he stays.

Re: Dopers interested in Hind
Agreed... I think Hind will be the best of the three
Lonie is being shopped around and Kent has a contract that I guarantee no one wants to take on (not because of money... rather the costs of a spot on the list).
Personally I think Hind will be the best of them

Hind, at least showed his potential in a few games. Some others did not.skeptic wrote: ↑Mon 02 Nov 2020 2:24pmAgreed... I think Hind will be the best of the three

Re: Dopers interested in Hind
As mentioned depends what is coming back. Players like this are handy in that they are depth for injuries (not in best 22) and also don't eat a lot of salary.
IF Ess were to offer overs then do the deal - money ball play - came in as a rookie goes out early third rounder ? that is a win.

Actually we used draft pick 54 in 2018 to get Hind.older saint wrote: ↑Mon 02 Nov 2020 2:55pm As mentioned depends what is coming back. Players like this are handy in that they are depth for injuries (not in best 22) and also don't eat a lot of salary.
