Message To Gallagher & Gubby - target Ratugolea!
Esava Ratugolea would be the perfect fit for us, enabling us to maintain our current structure of having a ruck/ forward combo.
He is athletic, a more than capable ruck option, accurate king for goal, and has an enormous upside.
You would think he's gettable, given Geelong are bringing in Jeremy Cameron.
At 23 he is in our preferred age demographic and no disrespect to McKernan, a far better option.

Re: Message To Gallagher & Gubby - target Ratugolea!
He's also contracted so costs alot more $ wise and trade wise than McKernan.
But i completely agree about trying to get him... his stats show him to be elite at stoppages and clearances, along with his contested marking and overall athleticism he and Marshall could be a huge weapon just like Ryder is now.
The opportunity to learn from Ryder would be great too as footy IQ might be an area for improvement for Ratugolea.
In saying that, i dont really think we'll be getting him, he's probably off to GWS for Cameron..

Gags has said they don’t want to spend much on a ruck/forward hence Mckernan more than likely on a one year contract & than next year throw the grandstand at Bing!

Re: Message To Gallagher & Gubby - target Ratugolea!
Given the players that want to go to Geelong it would be interesting to see who might make way. There would probably be a few players who couldn't at a game and aren't going to be any closer in the next couple of years.
Their salary cap has to be squeezed at some point too.
PS I've got some bad news for the OP. Ive got an inkling that Gags and Gubby might not actually get their ideas from this forum.

Latest whisper on FB has us linked to Menogala from the Cats...
Absolutely no sources though which is a shame.
Good player that would be a good fit

reckon Geelong has to lose at least a couple of handy players.
Menagola, Narkle, Clark, Ratugolea, Cockatoo...all would be feeling a bit unloved at the cattery!

Narkle and Clark would be worth a phone call to see where they are at.Saintmike65 wrote: ↑Sat 31 Oct 2020 11:57am

Bing is contracted at GC until the end of 2022 I think.PADDLEPOP1001 wrote: ↑Sat 31 Oct 2020 9:48am Gags has said they don’t want to spend much on a ruck/forward hence Mckernan more than likely on a one year contract & than next year throw the grandstand at Bing!

Menegola is a good player but is 28 and wants a long term deal. Wouldn't have thought that fits where the Saints want to go.

The fact we are going for a short term option with Mckernan instead of a better longer term option like Ratugolea who is surely get able if Cameron goes to the cats suggests to me Ben King is our long term target and the club believes we will get him as soon as this time next year

Our nick for him is Ratanoidea
Takes the occasional pack mark but is generally very very spuddish
And my Geelong mates don't have much love for Menegola ....... just sayin

Re: Message To Gallagher & Gubby - target Ratugolea!
A good second ruck/forward would allow us to play Marshall at CHF. Some would argue he’s too important in the ruck, but I’d counter by saying that CHF is probably the key position on the ground.
Admittedly, I’ve no idea whether Ratugolea is good enough to hold down a permanent spot as second ruck.
But we definitely need some insurance in that role.
Can’t count on Paddy and Marshall - or anyone else for that matter - to be immune to injury or suspension.

I thought McKernan was a bit of a strange choice but it makes perfect sense if you plan to delist him at the end of next year.
Bing would be a pre-agent this time next year. Cost 2 first rounders though but I think we would pay that.
Nothing better than a good Dad Joke.

Stanley's main role is a ruckman, Ratugolea is a big forward that can ruck, 23 years of age with a big upside that needs opportunities.

I highly doubt the big unit is in our plans.

Re: Message To Gallagher & Gubby - target Ratugolea!
I also think Ben King is our target but to get Ratugolea in would be a massive up side and i would play in Defence with Dougal as we are a bit small down back and struggled against some big strong forwards.

You and Dougal in defense sounds good. Where do you rate in the draft? Have we got the right pick?
