Jake Carlisle?
If Carlisle does chose to leave chasing a longer contract I wonder which way the club will go with replacing him. Obviously we have an untried Clavarino waiting in the mix, Josh Battle has proven he can play at CHB or do they look at bringing in one of the McDonalds or Brander from WCE.
For me Tom McDonald is a solid defender and Melbourne have done him a disservice trying to turn him into a forward. He is more mobile than Carlisle and would fit in well across our back line.

Re: Jake Carlisle?
Ratts and Roughy have lots of experience in winning teams.
If they let Jake go, I'm sure they have a very good idea of who comes in to replace him.
Gags will shuffle the $$ to make it fit nicely

Re: Jake Carlisle?
Really good question...
Clavarino has some big upside they have hopes for him he is 197 cm he needed to fill out body wise and get some games into him.
He is a very good intercept mark if he plays CHB he will have to learn to defend body on body... he moves well he is an important prospect for us with Austin failing , Brown retiring and Joyce looking unlikely to make it.
I’d prefer Battle up forward personally as the 3 rd forward so if Carlisle doesn’t stay it’s an interesting question if we have someone else to bring in from another club.

Tom MacDonald would be a great get. Is he even on the market?

Re: Jake Carlisle?
If they miss out on Tom, there is always brother Oscar, trade talk has both McDonalds going.
I wonder what their old man, Ronald, thinks of that.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Jake Carlisle?
Happy for Carlisle to go, as long as they find a replacement. He isn't that good to be honest.

Re: Jake Carlisle?
I don’t know that we can afford to lose Jake.
Clavarino is injury prone and unproven. With Brown and Austin gone, our only other choice is Battle.
Not ideal

Re: Jake Carlisle?
Absolutely. If Carlisle walks we need coverage. McDonald is the obvious choice. He had a horrible year this year which means his value should be below what he is actually at.

Re: Jake Carlisle?
Although I must admit I'm not a great Carlisle fan, the reality is we need to keep him.
Despite his shortcomings, he is a competent tall defender and with the retirement of Nathan Brown, delisting of Logan Austin, and inexperience of young Clavarino, we need him!
Just look at how Tom Lynch got hold of Dougal Howard in the semi final, showed we missed Carlisle that night.
We do need a strong bodied tall defender, preferably around the mid twenties but I'd still hold onto Jake.

Re: Jake Carlisle?
I want Brander from WCE. Came from the same draft as Clark, Coff and Paton. Highly talented, young, athletic enough to play on a wing, and got a good build on him already.
Behind some veterans at WC, and is wanting more game time.
If Carlisle does choose to go, I would jump at him.
