Jack Higgins
Sam Edmund on SEN this morning that Higgins will be leaving Richmond and has agreed to a contract with a new Melbourne-based club ... that isn't Carlton.
My God I so hope it's us. Serious upgrade on Lonie if that's the case.

Re: Jack Higgins
The last trade we did with the Tigers worked out pretty well.
And that was a player even more on the fringe than Higgins.
Yes, he did have a serious brain injury but he appears to have recovered.
Higgins was a clever and resourceful, not to mention dangerous forward before his injury.
Worth a go if we can afford him and can make it happen.
IMO.
We are fast becoming the Jack of all trades.
Terrible pun.

Re: Jack Higgins
Should not we just go for his joke writer. I think Gresh would have the stage craft to deliver the lines. Need to be careful Hanners doesn't pull a muscle laughing, but.

Re: Jack Higgins
I don't know anything about the trade talks and his current physical condition.
One thing I do know is that he grew up a Saints supporter , and his parents were both passionate StKilda supporters.
So if we got him , he would certainly bring the commitment , along with the passion to the club.

Re: Jack Higgins
If we get this guy it’ll be massive.
He plus Crouch can both play forward / midfield and it’ll do away with Lonie which is great. We can only afford to have 1 pigeon holed small forward (Butler) and no more.
Keep Kent and Hind a reserves in case of injuries .

Re: Jack Higgins
Ok so who is the better out of Lonie, Kent or Hind?
Yeah, thought so.
Should hang onto Lonie.
Move on the others.

For the record, Lonie grew up supporting the saints.

Re: Jack Higgins
I think Kent has a year to go on his contract and I doubt any other club would take him.
No idea about Hind but he's fringe AFL standard at best as is Kent.
I'd take Lonie over the other two every day of the week, month and year.
Proudly assuming the title of forum Oracle and serving as the inaugural Saintsational ‘weak as piss brigade’ President.

Re: Jack Higgins
If we manage to land Higgo then: -
(1) - Lonie will leave and Higgins will replace him;
(2) - Gresham will play more forward/midfield and replace Kent in that role; and
(3) - Crouch will play inside midfield and replace ? Surely it's Seb Ross ...
I like a midfield of Steele, Crouch, Jones under Ryder/Marshall with Sinclair, Gresham, Clark also rolling through there. That's a much better balanced, dynamic and offensive line-up around and forward of the ball.
Interesting that Adelaide are now posturing to match St Kilda's offer for Crouch. They're hell-bent on getting pick 2 as compo but high stakes way of getting it if they end up retaining a player that doesn't want to play for them

Well Jack already has a Saints jumper that probably still fits him...
and we know that he already knows our club song. So he is good to go

Re. Jack Higgins, for what it’s worth I’m hearing St Kilda is in the box seat. Nothing in stone, but I think the Need for Speed looks set to continue at Moorabbin.

Re: Jack Higgins
Really hope that Higgins comes to us.
Statistics may say that Lonie / Billings do alright, but I wouldn't trust having either of them playing for us in a GF, I reckon they are too soft. Small guys, small bodies, they will go missing.
I would trade them both while they have value. Nothing personal, I just think it'd be a smart decision to offload them right now for some good draft picks, particularly if we could get future draft picks and use these picks for Ben King or Taranto or some other big fish in next year's trade period.

Re: Jack Higgins
I like the fact that Jack sees himself as a midfielder. Please land Higgo Saints
