key position player
I think we should go after a player like josh Schache from bulldogs I know he hasn't played much but he is 23 199cm 94kg 56 games can play forward and back he would be great as a replacement for Carlile who is 30 next season if he even stays with us.
If the bulldogs wont a small from us like a hind or Sinclair we should make a deal.

Re: key position player
If we go a fringe KPP I'd rather trade for Peter Wright.
Genuine ruckman key forward size and has the hunger for another crack.
Undoubted talent and knows where he has gone wrong and desperate to show he can play.
Could be a dud but gut feel tells me he could also be a steal.

Re: key position player
Yep, Two Metre for me.
Ironically both players suffer from the same negative, a lack of urgency, an inability to get the most from themselves.
Schache has now failed this at two clubs, suggesting he may never realise his potential.
Let's see if a change of scenery can draw the necessary vigour from Wright - he can ruck, mark & kick. Three up on Longer already!

Re: key position player
Tom McDonald from Melbourne for me.
Was a great key back before being moved forward.
Not a terrible forward either.
Could be CHB and swing forward if needed.
Being able to have Battle and McDonald would give us options.
I really liked 2 Metre Peter in his draft year and if he agreed to learn ruck craft for a year then I would happily give him a 3 year contract.

Re: key position player
Absolutely. He had a terrible year but let's remember, this guy can play. And he's not a drop kick either. Comes from a great family. Read an article the other day in which he admitted he bulked up too much this year when in actuality he's an aerobic beast. Bulked up on advice from certain ppl within the club who believed he needed to get stronger to be able to take more contested marks. He plans to trim down and get his running game back next year. Would be a sensational get and a perfect replacement for Carlisle, even if Carlisle does stay - would make him work for the position. Means that Battles could play 3rd tall fwd or play on the 3rd tall fwd down back. Gives real flexibility and strengthBackFromUSA wrote: ↑Fri 23 Oct 2020 10:54pm Tom McDonald from Melbourne for me.

Re: key position player
I’d like another class ruckman to help Ryder out and allow Marshall to make CHF his own. Is two-metre Peter up to it as a ruckman?

Re: key position player
well some very good suggestions i like the McDonald one he has been there before and would be great back battle could be anything and it does allow us to be flexible where we play battle.
We still need a ruckman I don't think McKernan is the answer Brisbane might be an idea as they do have a lot of bigs at both ends of the ground and we really got shown up in that department against them and west coast.

If it's the Sesame Street character, maybe. If it's the Melbourne player, definitely not!

Re: key position player
That's right saynta, though initially a bit surprised, I was impressed with the move on Brad Crouch, a player who is going to improve the team immediately, he would easily walk into any of the other clubs.
With the stated objective by the club to bring in players who will have an immediate impact, as with the "Fabulous Five" this time last year, I have no doubt that the others on their radar will be of high quality.
Which is why I'd be surprised if they select McKernan because he's hardly going to be in the "list improvement" category, unlike 2 metre Peter who most definitely would, given his age (24) and potential replacement for Paddy Ryder.
The upcoming trade and drafts windows will be fascinating, exciting times!

Re: key position player
The need is for a strong bodied tall defender that can compete physically one on one with the key forwards like Lynch and Hawkins...needs to fit the right age demographic so McStay or Payne from Brisbane would be a good fit!

I like the idea of turning Schache into a defender - may be dreaming that he can turn into a defender - but has the size and supposedly the athleticismSaintmike65 wrote: ↑Sat 24 Oct 2020 4:05pm The need is for a strong bodied tall defender that can compete physically one on one with the key forwards like Lynch and Hawkins...needs to fit the right age demographic so McStay or Payne from Brisbane would be a good fit!

Re: key position player
From the age.com.au
""(McKernan) is one of a few guys," St Kilda list manager James Gallagher told Trade Radio.
"He's obviously finished up at Essendon. There are a few marking forward types that are either out of contract or finishing up at their current clubs and we've made a number of phone calls to their managers over the past few weeks.
"I reckon we are a little bit exposed if we get the wrong injury in the wrong spot. That's not necessarily just with Max King."

Re: key position player
Jarrod Brander is the one we should be chasing
I think he's going to develop in a excellent key defender
Wet Toast owe us big time
We drafted Cripps at 16, a clear best 22 player
He requested a trade back west & has played about 150 games, kicked 200 goals for them
We got peanuts for him (40's draft pick I think)

Re: key position player
How can we not be, if Gags isn't logging into SS on an hourly basis during this time of year then he should give himself an uppercut.
Re: key position player
Bailey Williams (WCE).....great leap, good grab, athletic, skillful & peninsula boy. (his dad was StK reserves player late 80's/early 90's?)
Perfect future pairing with Marshall alternating ruck/key fwd. Played a few games in 2nd year at eagles in 2020. Get!

Re: key position player
You are onto something - according to a BF intk the club has held some discussions with Brander. The boy from Bendigo/Mildura I think we see him as a tall who can play forward or back - be an interesting addition.Saint 58 wrote: ↑Mon 26 Oct 2020 4:22pm Jarrod Brander is the one we should be chasing

Hoping it happens !
I think he plays a bit like Carlisle
