Jimmy Webster & Dylan Roberton
Yes folks.
It is that time of year. When rumour waits to become fact or not.
So the tom toms are beating fiercely and suggesting Dylan Roberton and Jimmy Webster are up for trade.
Have no idea if it is true. But it would make sense if it was.

Re: Jimmy Webster & Dylan Roberton
Robbo''s currency is weak, he was a very good player for us but that was over 3 yeara ago and much water has passed under the bridge not mention a healthy heart along with it so he might just be delisted if he doesn't hang up the boots first.
Webster has currency.

Re: Jimmy Webster & Dylan Roberton
According to posters here the following players may or may not be put up for trade or are trade bait.
Ross, Dunstan. Lonie, Webster, Savage, Sinclair, Roberton, Carlisle, Kent, McKenzie & Hyde.
Posters can add on any time they please.
Now, I am aware most players are tradeable at the right price , but surely we are not trying to turn over 16 or 17 players, keeping in mind 6 have already departed.
Talk about ripping the heart and soul out of the club.
We would be in trouble if we have a run of injuries next year.

Re: Jimmy Webster & Dylan Roberton
I’m a big fan of Roberton before his ticker had a wobbly he was the best player on the park unfortunately he hasn’t made it back into the team. I don’t know the facts but wish him well if he goes. Jimmy Webster the paper said he played 8 games this year I didn’t notice him or wished he was back into the team as I did Roberton. Let’s see what the recruitment team can do.
Good luck to them both if it’s true.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Jimmy Webster & Dylan Roberton
I'd definitely be keeping Webster and Sinclair unless an offer too good to refuse comes along. Webster can take Clarks spot so he can go into the midfield and Sincs is one of our better users of the ball.

Re: Jimmy Webster & Dylan Roberton
Webater 100% is up for trade and so would Roberton. Players out of the 22 on big contracts have to be cleared as the list evolves.
I said it once and I will say it again if Caldwell comes in especially expect some players on big money or not in first 22 to be up for trade.
Ross- expensive player 700-800 way overs
Dunstan- finished he is even behind Bytel now
I would love to get rid of McKenzie but no one would be stupid enough to take him.
Lonie will probably leave.
Lethlean is not here to stuff around he is here to win a premiership that’s how it goes.

Roberton is finished. It would be better if we pay him out now and delist him.

Re: Jimmy Webster & Dylan Roberton
Roberton should have played in the semi final against Richmond. He was the obvious in for Carlisle. I consider him as good a footballer as Carlisle and - from the outside at least - a much better team man.
He’s had health issues, so what? He’s been passed fit to play and was emergency virtually every game this season. Does the club consider his ticker is not up to it? Is he too much of a health risk?

Re: Jimmy Webster & Dylan Roberton
Good depth players and happy to keep on the list.
But if you can swap them for a pick that in turn brings someone into the club that eliminates a weakness in the list, then you thank them for their service as you send them on their way.
I thought Gags may have undersold some players last year he traded out , but ultimately he moved them on knowing what he would get in return would be sufficient to satisfy the clubs we were looking to procure players from.
Just hope he can weave some more magic again and give Ratta the list makeup he needs to get us further up the ladder.

And would get nothing worthwhile actually trading them for unless it is a goodwill to just extending their careers

Roberton is a damn good footballer.

Re: Jimmy Webster & Dylan Roberton
What did you make of Robertson’s game against North in Round one?
Did it look like the game has passed him?
I would think he is needed.
Especially as Carlisle might be iffy.

Re: Jimmy Webster & Dylan Roberton
Webster has barely been able to get on the park for two years.
Roberton was available all year and played one game.
I don’t think there’s much currency in either of them.

I think that anyone that references the round 1 game of the Astersisk Cup for ANY reason should give themselves an uppercut and ban themselves from any further discussion involving the game of AFL.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Thu 22 Oct 2020 1:48am What did you make of Robertson’s game against North in Round one?

Has he ever had 1 good season?
Feels like he has a string of so so games, a couple of good ones and gets injured.
His disposal that is supposed to be elite looks fairly iffy to me...
Reckon a third rounder would be a great get for him if anyone offered it. Maybe we can offer him as steak knives as part of another trade

Re: Jimmy Webster & Dylan Roberton
Agree Kossi, Dylan in 2017 would have been worth a 2nd rounder, now I'd think he's a DFA at best and a cash dump if it is needed (I have no clue whether it is or not).kosifantutti wrote: ↑Thu 22 Oct 2020 7:37am Webster has barely been able to get on the park for two years.

Webster can play and is super tough, in fact is as courageous as anyone on the list but hes been passed by Paton and Long and doesn't play the rebound intercept role of Clark & Coffield. In addition more and more clubs are looking for rebound and as much as I like Jimmy he's more a defensive stopper who can win the ball than a rebounder.
I think a late 3rd rounder to 4th is best return for Jimmy, but that could be a good win for a club looking for his type of player.
Bruce & Jones = #32
Butler = #56
Steven = #58
Therefore if we think we are getting better than late picks for our fringe players I think we are dreaming.
Potential reduced list size further reduces the value of our fringe players.
Of those who are not core to requirement (in my opinion):
Trade value
DFA - Robbo, Mc Kenzie (I know hes contracted), Parker
4th - 5th round - Savage, Webster, Hind
4th - Kent
late 3rd - Lonie
late 3rd - Dunstan
Of those I wouldn't include but mentioned on this site:
late 2nd - Ross
late 3rd - Sinclair
Essendon chasing Paton:
Value = #20 - #30
If he wanted to leave its their first rounder off f*** Off
If we move 3 or 4 players and upgrade those picks we may get a 2nd rounder so little currency from our fringe group IMO.
