Re: Delistings Confirmed
May I ask.
So these delistings have been made.
...but they can still delist more?....is that what you mean when you say Dunstan etc., will be nervous?
When is the deadline for delistings? ....and what is the point of releasing delisting news piecemeal...if this in fact is what they are doing.
Glad Parker hasn’t been chopped. (Yet?)

Saints article announcing delistings headed “Stkilda confirms initial list changes” so yes there can be more, why some now and not all at once, AFL haven’t announced new list sizes nor do we know who we are going to trade (in or out) I suspect these delistings are players with no contract and little trade value.

Re: Delistings Confirmed
Has a contract if I recall correctly. So would have to be a trade and they would need to be desperate.

Re: Delistings Confirmed
I am guessing some of the players that might be delisted, the club is waiting to see if they can be traded. The players delisted at this stage would not be of interest to other clubs as a trade.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Sun 11 Oct 2020 7:46pm May I ask.

Re: Delistings Confirmed
When I looked at Bell's highlight reels thought he looked like something very very special -- just extremely skinny. He moves, kicks and handballs well, and taps the ball superbly. I thought he'd be our next tap ruckman of the future.
Maybe we're going to rookie him back in. I hope so.
I'm so sure I'm right, I'm hoping no rival teams' recruiters are going to see this post.

Re: Delistings Confirmed
Logan Austin needed another chance!
He is skilful. He has a terrific nose for finding the ball. He is 197 cm tall.
A far better prospect than Joyce I would have thought.

Re: Delistings Confirmed
I was surprised as well,Would have thought he would Be a better option than Alabakis but Bell was already on rookie list so if they wanted to keep him no need to delist and re rookie.avid wrote: ↑Sun 11 Oct 2020 10:10pm When I looked at Bell's highlight reels thought he looked like something very very special -- just extremely skinny. Re: Delistings Confirmed
Yep, Agree, he's an absolute ripper. Play him forward mainly, as he's naturally more a forward than the other positions he's played. Alternatively play him as a Ruck Rover because of his endurance and skills.

Re: Delistings Confirmed
From what I've seen Joyce is not up to AFL standard may have a contract but IMO would doubt it will be honoured.

Re: Delistings Confirmed
I get the feeling we have our teeth into a ruck/forward and have reached an agreement in principle with Carlisle.
Re: Delistings Confirmed
Looking at the delistings some may be stiff but need to consider the fact it will be smaller list sizes next year. Looking at the ones they cut they are too far down the pecking order to make a massive difference. Good luck to them on their futures and we hope they succeed.
But when you line it up is Austin going to be more useful than Webster, Roberton, Coffield, Wilkie or even Clavarino who they invested quite a bit in? Probably not.
Langlands is the same, but contracts wouldn’t have worked out. Personally I don’t see the benefit Lonie or Kent provide to the 22 apart from the fact they’ve played more games than Langlands.
Bell just seems a victim of smaller lists. The clubs got Paddy, Marshall and pinch hitters with Marsh, King and Carlisle and as Alabakis as Category B still.
Mayo wasn’t the right pick even at the time Riccardi was dominating at VFL level. That one will hurt us potentially.
Mind you looking at the rest out of contract I’ll be interested to see how they handle it. Carlisle and Bytel are definitely deserving of new deals.
Would also be putting the feelers out for a few on our list that could command currency elsewhere.

Anyone with an ounce of sense saw it... mind boggling that he got an extension for so long

Re: Delistings Confirmed
The smaller lists wont be kind to those already chopped. Who even knows how the second tier competitions will revive after the smoke has cleared? Will they have enough money to keep going? Perhaps, that is why they have announced these delistings so early.

One would imagine we have to be
Our lack of ruck and back depth exposed us to a degree this year

Re: Delistings Confirmed
We must have a ruck lined up. We certainly will not go into next season with just Ryder and Marshall and I doubt we would delist Abbott until we were sure of a replacement, ie. if we did not have someone, we surely would have at least waited until after trade period to get someone before we delist him

Secondary comps next year will be solid.
