Our next Captian
I much admire Jarrad Geary. I’m not suggesting he should retire or relinquish the captaincy. I think his last two games have been magnificent.
However, an eye to the future, there is one player with maturity and composure that stands out. He has the evasive skills of Robert Harvey, the composure of Scott Pendlebury and the courage and skill James Hird. This guy is an absolute superstar and an ornament to the game.

Re: Our next Captian
I think Clark is a gun, shows so much composure and highly skilled, and doesn’t shirk a contest unlike some of his higher paid team mates.
He’s very young though, Steele is the no-brainer for me to be captain next year and for the near future

Re: Our next Captian
Clark is not ready. Would love for him to put his hand up for a leadership spot, but I like the idea of co-captains for 2021.
I’ve had second thoughts about Steele since watching him in a few interviews. Steele may grow into the role but I wouldn’t be making him sole captain just yet.
If Hannas is off the gear, maybe Membrey and Hannas. Maybe we could do a Sydney and appoint 3 x Seb/Membrey/Steele or.....
Maybe Tim Membrey and Ollie Wines
What about co captains in Ollie Wines and Jack Riewoldt with Adam Treloar, Steele and Membrey as deputies

13 years? I have a framed picture of the 2007 team on my hallway wall. Gears is sitting in the bottom right hand corner. That makes it his 14th year unless he didn't get a game in 2007.whiskers3614 wrote: ↑Sat 10 Oct 2020 9:09am13 years at the club and people still don't know his name!kell wrote: ↑Sat 10 Oct 2020 8:49am I much admire Jarrad Geary. So how did 'captian' get there?

Re: Our next Captian
Lets be honest, we don't really have a stand-out leader in waiting.
Jack Billings & Luke Dunstan were spoken of us future leaders, but now I'm not sure.
Seb Ross is our vice captain, but I doubt there will be much support from him on this forum.
Hannabury is a possible candidate, but we need somebody to play every week, and there's a question mark over his off-field behavior.
Jack Steel and Rowan Marshall are probably our best players and show on-field courage, but I'm not sure what there like with the off-field stuff.
Hunter Clark, Nick Coffield and Josh Battle have potential to be future leaders, but all are still a bit young. It may be a season to early to burden them with the responsibility at this stage.
Grant Thomas appointed three young players, Riewoldt, Ball and Hayes (I think) as joint captains. It was controversial at the time, but had some merit.

"Key forward Tim Membrey received the Robert Harvey Best Clubman Award for his team-first approach and first-rate leadership, while retiring Saint Nathan Brown was acknowledged for his wonderful career and impact at the club to close out the night."

Re: Our next Captian
A captian is what you have when you don't have a suitable leader to be captain.
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.
If you are not engaging AI actively and aggressively, you are doing it wrong.
You are not going to lose your job to AI.
You are going lose your job to somebody who uses AI.
Your company is not going to go out of business because of AI.
Your company is going to go out of business because another company used AI.
