I'm thinking it will be Battle, Marsh & Savage.
If Battle isn't right, I'm thinking that Hind will come in for some extra pace

Battle, Marsh, Roberton
1 defender in - Roberton
1 swingman - Battle
1 big body with speed/size up forward to help draw a man away from King and who could be thrown in to pinch hit in the ruck in desperate times IF we decided we wanted Marshall to spend a few minutes forward
Go saints

I wish Longy doesn’t get suspended but as we all know the game has turned soft.
Battle can play forward and give Marshall a chip out in the ruck when he needs a breather.
Savage is a close like-for-like replacement for Long.
Further to my original post, with the news that Carlise is unavailable, I believe he will be replaced by Roberton.
Agree with Devilhead here.
I think brining in Savage for Long and Roberton for Carlisle brings experience and similar traits / heights.
It is a close call between bringing in Battle / Marsh / Abbott to replace Ryder. I wouldn't choose Abbott based on what I saw of his 1 game this year where his ruckwork struggled and he didn't do much around the ground. Marsh can be a good defensive forward and relieve Marshall in the ruck. Battle has the most strings to his bow: can be a good defensive forward, a good attacking forward, relieve Marshall in the ruck, and most importantly we can swing him to defense if we are struggling (as a last resort).
So I would go with:
IN: Battle, Savage, Roberton
OUT: Ryder (injured), Long (suspended), Carlisle (personal)

Sinclair took Hunter at stoppages, so I think he'll be alongside Prestia with a big job to do

Re: Changes for the Second Semi Final against Richmond Tigers
I’m really enjoying the writing style of Chris Nice this year. With the way we are going there’s always going to be good stories and a positive vibe, but I feel like he’s more beilevable than the writers in the past.
It seemed like we had some people writing with rose coloured glasses. Especially in the last couple of years when we were coached by Richo. There was never any heat or criticism. It was always ‘she’ll be right mate’ and ‘most of the players will be real beauties’ or ‘they’ll bounce back and star next week’.

Re: Changes for the Second Semi Final against Richmond Tigers
Selectors face a major dilemma for tomorrow night's semi-final against Richmond: do the Saints bring in another ruckman for the injured Paddy Ryder, as Richmond will have Toby Nankervis and Mabior Chol (200 cm) to alternate in the ruck and rest forward.
Most of the discussion on this forum has centred on having Rowan Marshall as the lone ruckman, but I'm starting to come around to the view that without Paddy Ryder and Jake Carlisle to handle the Tigers' rucks and tall forwards, it would not surprise me if they bring in Ryan Abbott.
The Dogs found it really difficult to counter St Kilda's big men last Saturday with only Tim English at their disposal, and that same problem could affect St Kilda tomorrow night.
In his only game this year, against Hawthorn, Abbott only got a couple of touches but he didn't get much game time as both Paddy Ryder and Rowan Marshall played, so that is not much of a guide on how he will perform in combination with Marshall.
For these reasons I would like to see the following changes:
Josh Battle for Jake Carlisle (not necessarily as permanent CHB)
Ryan Abbott for Paddy Ryder
Shane Savage for Ben Long

No, in Rd 4 Richmond went in with just Toby Nankervis, so all the more reason to play Abbott.

Why on earth would we play Abbott?

Would not surprise,
I said Marsh, Battle and Webster, but Savage is a good choice. Top ten last year.

Re: Changes for the Second Semi Final against Richmond Tigers
Mark Stevens said this on 7news last night. I like Webster but the guy hasn't played a game since R8 2019. That's a bloody long time out of the game. I love Robbo but, same deal - just too big of a risk in a cut throat final where speed will be our only real weapon.
I'd like to thank that Savage metres gained with kicking into F50 will be a weapon.
Go you red, black & white warriors

Re: Changes for the Second Semi Final against Richmond Tigers
If it’s Marsh, Battle, Savage how does our forward structure look?
Battle probably has to play back on either Riewoldt or Lynch. Unless they ask Coffield to play key position.
With Marshall presumably rucking, that leaves Marsh and King as tall forwards.
Pace is one thing, but structure shouldn’t be underestimated.
I’d like them to find a way for Battle to sneak forward (Marshall would be even better, but we probably won’t be able to spare him). Just with some physicality to take the heat off Max King.

As in
Ayrton Woolley
@AyrtonWoolley
One by one, Brett Ratten spoke with those on the fringe of selection at the end of training.
Looks like Shane Savage might have got the nod over Dylan Roberton.
Ratten all but confirmed Battle and Marsh will play. @9NewsMelb

I would have thought after watching that video, that he was leaning towards Roberton rather than Savage.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Thu 08 Oct 2020 3:24pmWoolley clearly gets his inside knowledge from JEJ.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Thu 08 Oct 2020 2:25pmAs in
