Re: Carlisle next season?
Saints could get badly hurt without Ryder and Carlisle
5 at 200cm suddenly becomes 3 at 200cm.
Richmond have Jack Riewoldt AND Tom Lynch they could stretch our defence.

It’s why you’d b4ing 8n Austin ? Keep the structure play Marsh forward as a wrecking ball pinch hit in the ruck allows Marshall to rest forward to stretch them still
Got to mix it up
Pray Battle can play...

He's definitely played his best season for us this year. I couldn't believe my eyes half the time, watching him running about! laying tackles even! Sometimes well up the ground!!!

Re: Carlisle next season?
Depends on price now and it doesn't look like he even enjoys footy on the big money he can no longer get, so probably its over. He's made himself expendable with poor attitude and unreliability, however righteous. Austin, Joyce and Clavarino in the wings (stage, not as mids). Shame to see Jake go that way; however he came in under a drug cloud & goes out a proud father, financially set up. Even a virtuous club like the Saints has to remember its a business notwithstanding its not for profit status.

Gee you're argumentative this morning! Cheer up china - i'm just chatting! Anyway, checked the stats and by them, 2018 was a better year. Still - I've always thought he was lazy. This is the first year I didn't. Must've needed my eyes tested, mustn't I, Pav?

I'm just giving you an opinion. I'm not arguing for the sake of it and I don't need cheering up (more gaslighting) but thanks.freely wrote: ↑Tue 06 Oct 2020 8:57amGee you're argumentative this morning! From recall, Jake’s 2017 was very good. Stats can be misleading.

Re: Carlisle next season?
I think Jake would like to stay. I hope he does. My gut feel is he would sign on if the contract is competitive and he feels wanted.

Re: Carlisle next season?
Personally I find the lack of value placed on what Jake can contribute to our team puzzling.
How often in recent times have we had as good a CHB as Carlisle is?
What are the odds of getting as capable a replacement if he left? (Remember too that the numbers of very tall forwards seems to be increasing)
He only turned 29 only days ago.
The last 90 days of his time in the bubble he was not with his pregnant wife and very young children.
He clearly gets on very well with Paddy and Howard.
St Kilda are from next year in a position to be a contender if we do the right thing.
If he left us now, our defence would probably be weaker over the next several years when we hopefully should be contending. With the Dogs game Carlisle was very good, and while Paddy was better (he was exceptional), without Carlisle in that game we could easily have lost that game.
The only reason I can see to not have him at the club is if we get an amazing trade deal. But would we gain an amazing trade deal either in picks or another player that we really need? If Carlisle left and we only achieved a late pick back I would see that as a step backwards.

Re: Carlisle next season?
It’s a no from me. Been a huge disappointment for what we thought we were getting. Can be lazy, sulky, no where near as tough as he looks and picks and chooses when he’ll turn up to play. We need players who are unconditional if we’re to win a flag.
For mine his attitude mirrored the Saints in the horror loss to Freo.
We need to putI him up for trade while he has some value

Re: Carlisle next season?
not a fan. lazy, moody, and wasting his talent.
but...coming back from his layoff he's looked like he cares. was very important last saturday. if we can get his head right and contribute consistently he's too good to let go.

He's the type of player the Dogs need and would chase.
