Yep... The shoulder in the marking contest with Smith. Did seem to play less minutes in the last. Hopefully he's OK. His leadership really stood out

Hannas was very good around the ball & in close and disposal under pressure was very good, but he was the only mid who was not pushing back and accountable for an opponent when Dogs had possession.

Spent a lot of time on the Stanley street end wing out on his own which was unusual as no other Saint had that sort of space. No idea his instruction but he was not getting back into defence like Steele, Jones and even Sinclair.

Again I don't know his fitness or his instructions, but I didn't see the gut running people are mentioning.

There's nothing wrong with staying in position. If all of our players dropped back every time we lost possession there's no one up the ground to go fast on the rebound. Worked smarter not harder.

Experience, not expert commentator as I am a layman supporter and nothing else.

Arrived at the Gabba about an hour before kick off.
Walking from car park to ground was pretty much saints and neutral fans, in fact didn't see Bulldogs colours until the pub on Vulture street across the road from the ground.

Entered through gate 9 on the Stanley st wing and noticed all the bars and snack bars open and staffed but no lines or customers. The merchandise tent was doing a decent trade.

Went to our seats on the wing in the stand and sat down, was surrounded by saints fans.
I guess visually the stadium looked about 25% full but it appeared 80% at least of crowd was seated on the Stanley st side of the oval. Though stating social distancing we had people seated on either side.

I would estimate from the colours and noise saints were at least 60 - 65% of the crowd, though perhaps that was because I was in an area with only Saints supporters. It appeared that due to the smallish crowd that supporters had resolved to be as loud as possible.

Conditions were perfect, about 20 degrees from a guess, (well I wore a T-Shirt all night and didn't put on a jacket) with what appeared a swirly sort of breeze. If there was wind on the ground it probably slightly favored the end the Bulldogs kicked to in the first 1/4 as the kicks really seemed to carry.

It was a pretty jovial mood in the crowd with the QLD supporters all shocked and feeling very lucky to have a neutral final in our state (or my adopted part time state).

Bulldogs ran out first to cheers and boos then a big roar for the saints.
Welcome video from the local land owners was well received by the crowd as was the national anthem the into action.

First goal to jumper grabbing Bruce was an ominous sign to the saints supporters...

One kick made me really happy, it was weighted perfectly to Lonie to mark it just behind a Doggie.
Lonie isn't known for contested marking.
As the Doggie belly flopped in desperation, Jack was able to easily centre it to Gears.

Remarkable really given how few games he's played for us. Had absolute confidence in his kicking and decision making every time he had the ball. Same goes for all our famous five too actually. Hill, Howard, Paddy obviously, Butler, Jones. We've really been well-served by the 'hub'. Can't imagine they'd all have gelled so well without it. But Hanners hasn't even had the benefit of that. Been thinking he was a total waste of money - be very interesting to see how he - and the fabulous four that are left - stand up this week.

Yep, Bont definitely won the toss and the fact he kicked to the shaded end makes perfect sense.
