Billings and the Dogs
Jack has good history thumping the dogs.
A player who can win games I see this week as his big finals arrival and a match to set his career truely alive.
C'mon Jack show us what you've got!

Re: Billings and the Dogs
He’s an interesting player Billings.
Pbly our most important IMO.
When he plays well we look incredible and in a number of games like WCE, we started we’ve started very well with Billings blitzing it early only for him then us to get shut out.
He’s the barometer

Certainly against the Dogs. Sadly there's a few here who will prefer Jack to fail, if only to justify their beliefs & understanding about AFL football.skeptic wrote: ↑Thu 01 Oct 2020 5:38pm He’s an interesting player Billings.

Love to see him tear it up. Might be a chance for a couple if he gets some space at half forward

He's a little ripper Jack. He will have a good game.

Re: Billings and the Dogs
Would love to see just one game this year where one of our talented youngsters seriously announces themselves to the comp.
Been hoping it would be King -- first year so it's no big deal it hasn't happened -- but would happily settle for Billings.
Go Saints.

I'm confident that Coffield, Clark & Paton have all done what you wish. JB has done it, no disgrace that Kelly & the Bont are better, in September 2020. St Kilda have done well, better than the Giants IMO.

Billings our barometer?
I needed that chortle

Re: Billings and the Dogs
I don't think the Dogs players or their coach were laughing anytime JB got the footy.
His kicking in that first half was the best I've seen from him in any match this year. One of his kicks was absolutely sublime. It was a perfectly weighted 50 metre pass to Kent (iirc) who was running at full pace towards our goal.
JB wasn't dominant, but he played his role.

Was very good. Had the defensive winger on him also.

Re: Billings and the Dogs
I'll have to look for the play in a replay but earlier there was an instance when Billings was putting in the usual half hearted token chase when he suddenly realised if he had been really trying he would have easily caught the Dog.
Billings suddenly ups his effort but too late the Dog gets his kick away with no pressure.
Lonie or Butler would have caught the Dog with ease.
I remember thinking at the time "trade the lazy -------- for Taranto".
Talented and effortless.

Long way away from Hunter probably 15 meters at one stage.ace wrote: ↑Sun 04 Oct 2020 8:59am I'll have to look for the play in a replay but earlier there was an instance when Billings was putting in the usual half hearted token chase when he suddenly realised if he had been really trying he would have easily caught the Dog.

Billings is going through a major form slump, I wonder if he is carrying an injury?

Re: Billings and the Dogs
Just didn't run or chase hard enough yesterday, and is just doing enough. A big disappointment in the second half of the season. I think he is little over-rated by some. Compare to Jack Sinclair who is really putting in hard and is becoming a better player as he goes on- more than I expected. This is where Billings should be now.

Re: Billings and the Dogs
Billings is fine. Link man, clean, quick, was involved in some very important plays, often with a quick tap or handball. Important tackles in the last and almost a very late goal similar to vs Brisbane. Also copped the defensive wingman.
Essential to the side. Didn't he cover more kms than anyone else?

Re: Billings and the Dogs
Laid a couple of huge tackles, one definitely saved a goal. Was nice seeing some tackles stick without allowing the dogs player to hand the ball off

Maybe barometer not the right word.
I meant more that when he plays well...

Re: Billings and the Dogs
Players get marked on different criteria even though they play similar positions.
Every time Hill has approaches average Billings numbers he is lauded.
Billings on the other hand is constantly derided for not being Dustin Martin!
Given what we paid for Hill can one of the trade Billings brigade tell me what we would expect to get for Billings given he is 2 years younger and ahead in every statistical category?

Re: Billings and the Dogs
I thought Billings was great yesterday. Not big numbers but I’ve seen him get 30 disposals and noticed him less. He was just so clean with everything he did.

13 disposals, 3 tackles and almost the game winning goal
Not a dominant performance but he was handy and did some nice things

Re: Billings and the Dogs
I just re watched the match and to be honest Billings was very good under finals pressure. He made the most of his opportunities rarely wasting a disposal by hand or foot. Also laid some crucial tackles. Sinclair was also very good, hard at it and broke play open with some deft disposal.
