Newnes never put in a poor performance ffs.SaintPelican66 wrote: ↑Sat 03 Oct 2020 9:45pm I'll be very interested to see how stubborn Ratts is. Surely he drops Kent. This cannot continue. It is starting to remind me of the situation with Newnes who kept being selected every week even though he did not perform.

Who comes in for Carlisle if he goes home ?
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Changes for the Second Semi Final against Richmond Tigers
Whatever the in and outs we are in serious strife.
Ryder out means Rowan has to ruck and losing him in the forward line as a roaming tall hinders King.
There's a huge flow on affect losing Ryder. He has been significantly better in the ruck than Rowan in 2020.
Ryder has been absolutely brilliant tapping to advantage.
I can't see any replacement that saves us.

Losing Ryder is perhaps the worst thing to happen; for us.

Great as Ryder has been for us, we beat the Tigers earlier in the year without Ryder in the team.

What about Abbot for Ryder? He doesn't seem very good at all but it would keep our structure.
If Marshall rucks alone, who will be the 2nd ruck? I don't think it should be Battle as he can't jump off the ground in the centre bounce. I hope Marsh doesn't come in as he is not an AFL player.

We’re not in as much strife as the Bulldogs. They have to get up early tomorrow to check out of the hub .SAINT-LEE wrote: ↑Sat 03 Oct 2020 10:41pm Whatever the in and outs we are in serious strife.

Marshal lurrrrrvs going in as the main man. You know its true. He will make Nakervis look like a cabbage.

Please not Abbott. Struggled in his one game this year, didn’t look great.Jacks Back wrote: ↑Sun 04 Oct 2020 12:14am What about Abbot for Ryder? He doesn't seem very good at all but it would keep our structure.

Marshall has to step up, it could be a career making game for him, he’s done it on his own and looked very good before.

Re: Changes for the Second Semi Final against Richmond Tige
Unfortunately we don’t have a replacement for Paddy. Champion tap ruckmen don’t grow on trees.
Marshall is going to have to play out of his skin, but I expect he will. He always steps up when required to.
Hopefully Battle comes up okay.
Out: Ryder (inj). Possible out: Long (susp)
In: Battle. Possible in: Webster/Savage
Tigers will come out breathing fire after their inglorious qualifying final. Wouldn’t it be nice to send them home in straight sets.
We’ve beaten them this season. They will be apprehensive we can do it again.
I’m going to dare to dream. We have zero expectations on us.

Ryder and Carlisle out (Hannas reckons he will go to babies birth). Family always comes first.
If fit, Battle in.
Second in.....really hard one. I reckon Savage. Has expierence and can step in. Was standout in praccie match.
Howard will take Lynch up back and Battle might have to take the second tall back or play forward/ruck.

Re: Changes for the Second Semi Final against Richmond Tigers
Will Tom Lynch play? Will Jake Carlisle play?
If Lynch misses and Jake plays, then Battle in and let Josh play forward...
If we need more size, then roll the dice with Roberton (but not on Lynch). Dougall on Lynch and Wilkie on Riewoldt. I trust the disposal of Roberton more than Lynch. Roll the dice and let it rip.

Re: Changes for the Second Semi Final against Richmond Tigers
It will have to be forward/ruck IMO. King will need a hand up forward where he usually has Marshall or Ryder and/or Battle.johnearljames wrote: ↑Sun 04 Oct 2020 2:16pm Battle might have to take the second tall back or play forward/ruck.
If Carlisle comes home, I’d say Robbo plays. Hasn’t played a full match since Rd 1, true, but desperate times desperate measures. On that, Hannebery didn’t take long to get up to speed despite missing a lot of footy. Had him in my best.

Ryder ruled out for remainder of finals. I really feel for the man & the Club. If we didn't have bad luck with our rucks in finals, we'd have no luck.

Re: Changes for the Second Semi Final against Richmond Tigers
Battle in for Ryder
Marsh in for Kent
Savage for Long (if necessary)
Keep Battle forward
Marsh/King might give us 3-5 mins in the ruck each quarter and allow Marshall to go FF.
Get Marsh to defensive forward rest of the time.

Re: Changes for the Second Semi Final against Richmond Tigers
Cant say i agree with you. Sure Paddy is out but one player does not make a team, and Paddy has not exactly done this kind of thing every single week. Nankervis isnt scary to me, i think Marshall will atleast match it with him, and Richmond are a team that dont tend to win (or prioritise) the winning the contest. They will set up behind the ball instead and try to get us to turn it over.SAINT-LEE wrote: ↑Sat 03 Oct 2020 10:41pm Whatever the in and outs we are in serious strife.

Realistically, we are coming into this game at almost full strength (having 100% of your list available in middle of finals is not realistic). There will always be an injury here or there. Our engine room guys are all in good form and our young guys are starting to play their best footy.
If there was ever a blueprint for how to beat Richmond, the Lions showed it to us on Friday night. Richmond are beatable. We will be underdogs but so what.
We are literally right where we want to be, going into a big final against a big team with basically everyone fresh and some wind in our sails. We can win this game. f*** Richmond.
