I reckon they'd want this years and next years first picks.minneapolis wrote: ↑Mon 28 Sep 2020 1:23amHi Fug,fugazi wrote: ↑Sun 27 Sep 2020 11:08pm So, so far we have
1.a sketchy conjecture from Barrett about Brown

3. a link to Caldwell that some suggest have us front runners
4. a total fabrication from Big footy about Heaney
Am I missing anything?
I really hope we are trying to get a gun midfielder with the money in the cap and sudden allure we have as a club.
Caldwell would be an excellent get and a potential 10 year player
But we need 1 serious established gun to make us a threat.
Let's not get distracted by Tall forwards or 32year olds before we land a big fish midfielder.
In Gags we trust.
that would be Taranto. (I am hoping against hope. Would cost next years first.)
If we do nothing but sign Taranto I would be ecstatic.
If we went deep next year and say our first pick was #14 its not going to get Taranto.
Originally #2, 22 year old B&F winner and gun player.

Re: Off Season Targets
Yep - agreed SR. Taranto goes nowhere unless GWS have a salary cap issue. Given that Himmelberg just re-signed ... on that basis, we should be barracking for J Cameron to re-sign ... he's going to take a huge chunk of that cap space. Crouch is really injury prone and a poor kick and Viney is a bull but, also a poor kick. We need more like Higgins; less like Viney/Crouch. I just hope we get Caldwell - he's going to be a cracker. Him alone will make me happy then try and get a bit creative re: trading after that.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Mon 28 Sep 2020 2:39amminneapolis wrote: ↑Mon 28 Sep 2020 1:23amHi Fug,fugazi wrote: ↑Sun 27 Sep 2020 11:08pm So, so far we have

Nice to dream, but he is contracted to 2022, and we are short of trade picks due to last years deals, and little in the players that are worth anything to trade, that we can afford to lose.
Only hope with a player like Taranto is if GWS have a salary cap problem. But that still leaves us with the problem of how to pay his trade cost.
Best two FA mids are Viney and Crouch. Yes Taranto is better, but I doubt he is gettable.
If we could say land Viney and trade for Caldwell that would be a pretty reasonable outcome for us.

Re: Off Season Targets
Early days yet, but Caldwell certainly appears to be the most achievable target (both in terms leaving GWS and in terms of the trade cost to acquire) to address our No1 need.Saintmatt wrote: ↑Mon 28 Sep 2020 11:19am

ADELAIDE is investigating an incident involving Brad Crouch and Tyson Stengle, after the pair were allegedly stopped by police in the early hours of Monday morning in possession of an illicit substance.
Hopefully this counts him out as a possible off season target.

Brad Crouch may have got a little cheaper. Save the money, get our hands on Caldwell & Constable & Higgins.

Hopefully this counts him out as a possible off season target.
A SA Police spokeswoman said; “At 5.15am on Monday 28 September 2020, police spoke with a 21-year-old man and a 26-year-old man on Grenfell Street, Adelaide,” she said.
“As a result, both men were drug diverted.
“Police have no further comment to make in relation to this matter.”
A statement from the club said the pair would not be charged but would be counselled and given appropriate support.

"The start of free agency remains 32 days away, a month in which Crouch has much work to do to redeem his reputation and apologise for his sins.
A good start would be to bare his soul in a legitimate public apology – not the kind where he apologises if he might have offended anyone.
For prospective clubs until now his worst offence was that in a competition that puts a premium on precise skills he could spray it like few others of the very elite ball winners.
Now an off-season where he had hoped to set himself up for life financially if he could traverse the vagaries of the AFL’s free agency system couldn’t have got off to a worse possible start."
Elite ball winner, but a crap kick now with additional baggage. So, no thanks,

Luke Parker is the one I think is gettable. I think he only has one more year on his current contract and he has great mates at the club. He's the calibre we need yesterday.diddley wrote: ↑Sun 27 Sep 2020 10:19am My shopping list goes:
Jye Caldwell
Alex Witherden
Charlie Constable or Riley Collier Dawkins (why not both?)
Luke Parker (will settle for Shaun Higgins)
Midfield transformed, yet still youthful.
Witherden helps Clark (and to a lesser extent, Coffield) move up the ground a little more.

GREATER Western Sydney has upped its offer to Jye Caldwell in a bid to ward off Victorian rivals from snaring the talented midfielder.
The Giants are believed to have lifted their original two-year offer to a deal up to four years as Caldwell weighs up his future.
