Re: Off Season Targets
Higgins would cost bugger all but I think he's over the age bracket. I'd be more inclined to look at Sexton at GC. Not as good but similar type and we'd get a few more years out of him.
Geez Taranto...what would folks be willing to give up? They'd want way overs, rightly so. Price may be a bridge too far. Caldwell should still be priority but if that Saints list management gurus can get creative with draft pick swaps and moving some players on for picks, you just never know. It would be a massive coup.
If we land him it means we'd have 2 of the Top 5 players from 2016 draft.
Taranto ND pick 2
Marshall Rookie draft pick 10 (we made off like bandits that year).

Adelaide are rebuilding so would they take Dunstan (SA boy) plus both of our fourth RDP's for their second RDP (22ish)?
Then
pick 22ish plus 2020 first RDP plus Lonie for Taranto.
Then our future first RDP for Caldwell
Then premiers 2021.
Thoughts?

Yes you can. As long as you use 2 in any rolling 4 year period.bergsone wrote: ↑Thu 24 Sep 2020 6:13pmSomeone else will know but dont think you can trade first round draft picks 2 years in a rowSaintPelican66 wrote: ↑Thu 24 Sep 2020 5:59pmI'll give you creative. No evidently deal is almost signed. Throwing in Steele with Max also gained us Higgins as well as Brown.

Re: Off Season Targets
Agreed.
Excellent player Paton and is required to be in our back 6 six for 10 years.
I’d want a king’s ransom for him. Two players and a 1RDP minimum.
Saad
McGrath
Their first pick
That’s the level where I’d start to entertain offers

Re: Off Season Targets
To be fair he plays a position where we have coverage.
Paton for Zac Merret or Adam Saad would do the trick
Seriously, would you look at Paton & Dunstan for Zac Merret or Adam Saad?

Ghost Like wrote: ↑Thu 24 Sep 2020 3:27pmI agree that experience is the key with how our list is structured which is why Higgins is more attractive.skeptic wrote: ↑Thu 24 Sep 2020 1:32pm If this season has taught us anything, it’s the value of experience.
Brown was a good player and could teach a guy like Max something.
If he’s body is right and he comes super cheap... could do worse than adding him as a depth player on the list for a year or 2.
Brown could teach Max how to lead and about accuracy but that's it. Max is already far superior when the ball is on the ground. Max already knows how to get buffeted in a pack & drop marks...both of which will improve with each game & each pre season.
If BB cost nothing, then maybe but he won't. I'd rather the effort be on the midfield, saving time & money for the real Ben, Ben Kin
We also now have Clarke as nearly a full time mid. by next year, he will be. so there is =one extra mid . if bytel develops then there is another. we just need a couple of very quick ones, and we will be right.

Re: Off Season Targets
Does this force Geary's hand on retirement? With Roberton, Long, Wilkie, Coffield, Webster, McKenzie and the best stopper of them all Paton all locked in, where does Geary fit in.
Wilkie, Paton, Long and Coffield are just about guaranteed priority, Webster and Roberton play tall and small and are tough, experienced and skillful. Then you have Battle too.
It seems logical that Savage and Geary make way. It will be a very interesting off season.

Re: Off Season Targets
No thanks to Saad - cost too much and not convinced he is near A grade talent. Looks flashy but other options out there and internally for the same position. I'm not the biggest Long fan but would rather him and cap space for others than Saad
