Shot the lights out for the Giants, this is the year they get cleaned out...Leon's look to the chewing gum left on the top of the coaches box said it all...get it done Gubby
With jones coming back in it gives us a great chance to structure up a bit better.especially forward of centre .
Paton howard wilkie
Long carlisle coffield
Hill steele battle
Billings marshall clark
Membrey king butler
Ryder jones hanneberry
Ross sinclair lonie geary
Imo gives us a bit more flexability and having clark and billings at hf ,you have your better ball users delvering the ball to our tall forwards .and they can also rotate through the middle and kick goals from the 50m arc.thoughts?

Geary to Johannissen again
Yep. Jones to the midfield . Clark to half back to free up Geary to go forward on JJ, Kent out .
Kent was better last night, but Jones has to come back if fit. Pretty telling that he is one of the club’s 3 nominations - with Steele and Butler - for the AFLPA MVP award. Clearly has made a great impression in his first year with us.
The unknown is Carlisle , both as to whether there is a match up for him, and whether he is available with the impending birth of his child.

Clark to half back.
I I thought he gave us plenty in the middle.
He looks like one of those players where everyone goes up a notch when he gets it. They know there is opportunity coming. A playmaker. Somewhat like Gresham.
Jones or Hannebery could take Kent’s role - if that is who misses.
Apart from a few specialists, they are all virtually midfielders. Pretty versatile

I know it won't happen but imagine if Gresh was not injured. Who would be dropped to make way for him?
Imaginary football is an illusion.
If Gresh did not get injured someone else would be injured.
Best 22 is part of that illusion.
You need to deal with best 22 AVAILABLE.
And with that you need to think Best 30.

We will play Collingwood
UNLESS both Collingwood lose to Port Adelaide AND Bulldogs defeat Fremantle in which case we play Bulldogs
I would prefer the second outcome as I think we have better chance against the Bulldogs.

Carlisle hopefully to stay in for structure. Look a lot better when he's in the side. If he is back in Melbourne for the birth of his child by then, I would bring in Webster. A bit of height and a bit of mobility. Plus he is one of our best kicks in the side.
As to who I reckon we'll play, I think it will be the 'Dogs. They have to beat Freo to play finals today and I think they'll do that - just. Collingwood are a chance against Port at the Gabba, but I think Port will edge them out.

Hard to know how much Port will want to win. First or Second doesn’t matter too much if you’re trying to win the flag. If Pies have to win to avoid a trip to Perth, they will give it everything.

Geary to Johannissen again
I’m not sure.
Beveridge would be planning for that
Just because it worked so well last time doesn’t mean it’s what you go with this time
Ross to Bont or Bailey Smith?

Totally agree Bigcarl re Clark on Friday night . Was fabulous in the middle. I gave him 3rd best behind Steele and Marshall .
The question is team balance for the first final. IF we play Dogs and Geary goes to JJ, someone needs to go back. For team balance I think it is better that Clark goes back ( where he has shone before) and Jones into the middle. However , it may play out exactly as you say. What is absolutely clear however Is that Hunter Clark is going to be a very fine player for us. Cheers.
I'm not totally convinced about Jones- his effectiveness seems to have gone off a bit since the Geelong game now that oppositions tag him heavily, and he isn't very good defensively. Kent was one of our better players in the first half against GWS, so it's a line ball. I thought everyone did their bit in the GWS game and we got back winning team footy so why change except for injuries.

Basically, none of you have a clue.
I know right. I'm surprised there haven't been calls yet for Hind to replace Kent or even better, Robbo, Webster or Savage. Have I missed any of the other cooked players.
It's hard to drop anyone after a win that gets you your first final since 2011 but let's be honest, GWS are a rabble and the wheels fell off long before we got to pick over their carcass.
I'm watching the replay again so not sure yet.
Who would you drop to bring Zac in?
Maybe Sinclair is more a chance to lose his spot to Zac. Yes he has been pretty good lately but I think Kent can play a real role for us and was good on Friday

If Fridays 22 are good to go... Is there a match up for Carlisle vs Dogs? Might be Jones/Carlisle.
If the Pies and the yank is in then Sinclair might be the unlucky one for Jones.
