5 Hill
4 Marshall
3 Steele
2 Long
1 Clark

I thought Brad’s work rate was phenomenal. Marshall and Steele are the sort of footballers that you need in finals. They win contested footy and they fight and scrap and tackle hard. Both had the finishing touches as well and they had an impact on the scoreboard.

The game was in the balance in the first half. It was a huge team effort to compete and to pressure and to run to provide an option out of defence. One of the hardest workers was Kent. If he was a bit cleaner he could have probably not copped as much criticism, but I gave him a pass mark overall. Michael Long was one of our most influential backmen in the first half and his ability to create scoring opportunities was only second to Brad Hill.

Ryder, Butler, Wilkie, Paton, and Sebby all had good games. The captain and the leaders on the field set the example with their desperation and hard tackling. Well done to JB for persevering and for that lovely crunching tackle.

This was a tight contest worthy of an elimination final and only accuracy was the difference for the first 2 and half quarters. With a couple of minutes on the clock before 3 quarter time I noticed quite a few players on both sides gasping for air. Our boys pushed through and I’m so glad that we kept up the pressure in the last. Great team effort.

This was as good as it gets, exactly the sort of form that they need to win a elimination final, it should give a huge boost to their confidence!

5. Rowan Marshall - if he doesn't make AA "Mr Consistency" will be badly done by...
4. Jack Steele - ditto
3. Paddy Ryder - played with a lot of heart and soul, belies his age...
2. Hunter Clark - St Kilda's Rolls Royce, a very smooth operator, sums up the game beautifully and will become elite mid
1. Bradley Hill - an older model RR, but is building his form to peak in finals, will make a huge contribution on EF

Honourable Mentions to Dan Hannebery, Nick Coffield, Josh Battle (big job restricting Nick Haynes influence), Ben Long (tackles for keeps, he's become a really hard nut), Jack Sinclair (love his penetrating runs, now firmly in best 22), and last but not least the team's coaches for a great team performance!

The Age and some of the media and journos haven’t even watched the whole match.

Did you notice all the negative comments on the match thread in the first quarter?

I noticed you didn’t comment because no one would be crazy enough to defend those kicks from Sebby

His metres gained are an irrelevant stat when it just turns into a turnover

The other thing with wasted inside 50’s is that it is a missed opportunity and it can have a dual affect ...

It deflates the St Kilda boys and it gives hope and motivation to the opposition who pounce and try to capitalise

If we are going to ignore players errors than I would argue that Dean Kent was as influential as Ross.

You have to look at where Seb plays and the repeated opportunities he gets for possessions. I think he played a very good game overall and his work rate was terrific, but I think Ryder, Butler, Long, Wilkie, Paton, Clark, Steele, Hill and Marshall were more influential in getting us the win

I don't read the match thread but I watch Seb closely. Most of the negative comments concerning Seb including yours are way off beam. Prejudices at the fore front before true footballing knowledge, I believe. Seb had the equal most possessions from a saints player and the second most in meters gained after Hill. His lightening fast handball that resulted in a goal was a beauty to behold.

I know for certain that Seb could get 25 possessions at 80% accuracy and still not garner a vote on here from certain individuals Been proved over the past 4 years when Seb won two Trevor Barker awards and was runner up in a third.
Nevertheless some some self proclaimed experts on here were calling for Seb to be traded. Still are, but it ain't going to happen fortunately.

At least the coach values Seb and really that is all that matters. Oh and I stopped reading your post after the first three sentences.

5 Ryder Superb ruckwork, gave us first use out of the centre, did his bit around the ground
4 Steele Great hardworking game, did the heavy lifting
3 Marshall Quiet first half but fantastic second half
2 Paton Kept the dangerous Greene under control all game.
1 Battle Did the job on Haynes plus kicked an important goal, hard at all night

Honorable mentions to Butler who harassed and chased all night and Wilke who was steady and calm down back.

Sinclair improves with every game. I put that down to Ratts having a bit of faith in him.

5.Steele incredible leadership through example
4.Ryder without his work their midfield may have made the difference
3.Clark unrelenting game when we were thin in the middle
2.Marshall perfect ruck/forward foil for Ryder. What a footy brain the lad has
1.Battle kept Hayne to zero intercept marks. Key discovery for finals, Tom Stewart etc
Apologies to a LOT

Steele is the leader of our team on the field whether he has the C next to his name or not. He’s immense.

And the ‘e’ on Clark us just for you :)

Why do you feel you need to justify that Ross was in the best 6 ? IMO he was in our best 6 this week but some sites didn't but some did. Just don't get why you feel compelled to keep highlighting what paper or site rated him .Everyone sees things differently that doesn't mean its right or wrong it's just their view

The problem with Ross is his disposal is so poor. Most of the time he’s happy to just bang it on the boot without even looking for a better option. Yeah he gets a bit of it, but his DE the last 3 weeks have been 57%, 65% and 55%. Not good enough for where we need to be.
