So how come his brother hardly got picked by us after his first season - if, as Jofffa says, he was a better player than Joffa.

Geez....brutal stuff...

1) Reserves had to practice in the car park!!
2) Dropped on 99 straight games
3) The ‘Doc’ treated him like s***, ditto Trott
4) No pay - the club were piss poor tp be sure
5) he was also part-time groundsman! Wow...and is still a groundsman today. Knows a thing or two about sprinklers. Lol

You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

saints also shopped him around. Tried to do a swap with the druggies for Tony Eshaug, according to Joffa.

What a surprise!
Mike Sheahan doing an interview with a former disgruntled (probably deservedly so) Saint
Has Sheahan ever done a story that compliments our Club?
He’s been taking potshots at us for decades.

Graeme Gellie & Greg Burns were 2 of the toughest players that ever pulled on a Saints jumper & both could give as good as they got

According to AFL Tables, Joffa missed the round 7 game in 1986 against Essendon which may have been the game he was talking about. The week before he got 5 possession against Fitzroy. The week before that, he got 26 possessions against North.

He averaged over 20 possessions a game during the season and given that they were so bad and had not won a game until that point of the season, it’s hardly a justification for dropping him.

While I believe Joffa and the stats seem to back up his version of events, Trott has a right to a response and the story need to be corroborated first.

Great bloke, Fader, who was still playing in the over 35s comp last time I spoke with him. Captain and coach of Maffra for many years and still lives there.

My knock on him when he played for the Saints was that he was an undersized forward who always seemed intent on taking mark of the day. Given the choice of that or being front and square at a contest attempting the screamer was his default mode. I never saw him as a long term player because of that. I'm sure that was a major reason he was let go.

Your other five points pretty well sum up what a crap club we were, a disgrace actually.

Joffa did not appear or sound disgruntled. Did you actually watch the show?

And there was nothing complimentary that deserved to be said about StKilda during Joffa's time.

Maybe I didn't compose my post clearly enough?
I wasn't criticizing Joffa
I was merely making an observation that I cannot remember the last time Mike Sheahan had anything complimentary to say/write about St Kilda.
Over decades.
In fact, I think he goes out of his way to seek out stories that paint us in a negative light. and ignore any story that paints us in a good light.
WHich Saints have been subject of an episode of Ópen Mike'?
And no, I didn't see the show , so my comments are based purely on the posts made here.

seeing how Sheehan mostly interviews players/officials from the 70/80/90s era
How many of our stories werent tinged with
Club upheaval
Club financial woes
Player unrest
Player non payment
Brawls in the disco
off field indiscretions

you know all the usual stuff

Yep - not Sheehan's fault that we were awful in that era

The way I see it its amazing that the St Kilda FC still exists at all .... considering our history

Fortius Quo Fidelius ...... Joffa seemed pretty enamoured by that motto ...... and its why we are all still here!

Maybe Sheehan should interview Lindsay Fox or a few other of our past administrators

I think its common knowledge why Fader was not given a fair go at the club.

Joffa was being kind about his brother . Joffa was a far far better player than Fader. Fader was pretty handy, but Joffa was a star. It is a long time ago, but I do not recall being surprised when Fader was in and out of the side. I used to watch the whole Reserves games in those days, and I thought Andrew Jobling was more unlucky than Fader when it came to senior selection. Fader had one magic day out at Waverley against the Tigers when we absolutely crushed them; whereas Joffa was an excitement machine game after game.

It involves Faders wife and a star St Kilda player.

I thought that was pretty much general knowledge.

Well it was at the time.
