Zak Jones will miss Friday night’s clash with the Giants with a hamstring injury.
The St Kilda midfielder reported soreness following the Round 17 clash against the West Coast Eagles, with subsequent scans revealing a minor strain.
St Kilda Chief Operating Officer Simon Lethlean said while the injury wasn’t serious, Jones would be missing for what shapes to be a finals-like match.

Re: Jones hamstrung
That's a big blow.
We need as many quick line-breakers like Jones as we can get, we definitely already have enough plodders...

Pretty sure that’ll now mean they roll the dice on Hanners

Re: Jones hamstrung
f***!
Getting a bad feeling about Friday now.
We could probably only afford to bring in 1 or 2 players that hasn't played all year like Hannas or Dunstan or Roberton but I would assume they would be ripping fit and they could cope with one game straight up.

Oh dear. One of our most important layers. Offers something that the homegrown "talent" sorely lacks.
Looking grim now.

Clark goes in the middle. Bring in Carlise or Robbo. One must come in for GWS tall forwards. Can't make the same mistake as last week. Hanners if fit must play or Bytel.

Re: Jones out, Hamstring
Dunstan had a 'damning' or less than glowing post-match assessment a few days ago.
Something like 'needs to get better with his F50 entries'
Surely we don't need another spray-it anywhere type?
Too many poor entries

That’s three hamstrings in 12 months for Zac. I hope the head honchos understand what this means going forward.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Jones hamstrung
Clark and Hannebery into the guts. Tempting to bring in Dunstan, too, in place of one of our non-productive small forwards.
Would also bring in Roberton, or, failing that, Carlisle.

Re: Jones hamstrung
In: Hannebrey ( may as well find out if he can last a game now rather than risk it the 2 weeks later) , Carlisle/Roberton
Out: Jones(inj), Hind/Kent.
Clarke moves into mid rotation and sinclair and Billings go through the square a little more too.

Re: Jones hamstrung
Reporter must think we are going to win Friday, otherwise headline would be "season ending injury". Jones, Hannebery and Gresham - a dream team midfield. See casualty list for more details. So Hannebury, Dmac and Bytel for Jones, Hind, Kent. Otherwise we'll know who is sleeping with the selectors.

Re: Jones hamstrung
The way I see it it has to be Hannaberry in for Jones.
No use saving him for finals because if it's suspect it'll let us down then.
The string must be right for more than a week after surgery. Supposedly they found "funky stuff" there.
Carlisle back in to replace Hunter in the back line. Hunter in the middle.
Gives us Steele,Hunter,Ross,Hannas, Sincs/Billings in the middle.
Drop Hind. I know we lose speed but if he ain't getting it then it ain't much of a loss.

Re: Jones hamstrung
I wonder how many draft picks it will cost us for next year's hamstrung victim from Sydney? I like Jones, I actually like Hanners...I just don't like our belief we can fix the broken, the dodgy, the lame.
That's a lot of money wasted at the business end of a season. This recruitment ultimately costs jobs.

Heard that one before. Quite recently.
"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

Re: Jones hamstrung
You are not kidding.
Hoping for an implosion of Essendonian proportions, but been sucked in before.
Jones cannot be counted on in in 2021. Best be prepared. Hamstrings don’t go away. When will be the fourth?
Melbourne - seven changes, on the ropes, we still lose.
I just hope they use last seasons disaster against the Swans as an example of how NOT to finish a home and away season.
Lest we forget that thrashing last round last year with Ratts mind you. A different team, it must be said.

Re: Jones hamstrung
Forget the dreams of a rabble, who wants to play one anyway? That's for the weak. That's for those who believe players don't care, players that believe their livelihoods are safe (despite the belief they don't care about the season & situation)...Season Deniers.
GWS may have some issues but I'll put my left testi on a platter and say not one who plays has not got an eye on next week, next season, next club. All who play for GWS this Friday want to prove something. I hope all who play for St Kilda feel the same.
