Hannas back for GWS next week
Rumours getting around he is ready.
I say play him. What can we lose. Will contribute more than a few players did against West Coast like Hind, Kent, Lonie, etc.

If he is fit he has to play
If he breaks down again this season he has to retire it’s become chronic

Re: Hannas back for GWS next week
I reckon play him. Stick him in a forward pocket. He is a smart player . If he gets more than the 2 handballs Kent got last night we are ahead. One of the many problems we have is that Butler is our only decent small forward, so he is copping a hard tag each week. Hannebery will draw a good player, and knows how to read the play and kick a goal.
Shades of the Doc in the last round of 1966 . Anyone else remember that day? Dan H is of course no Baldock , but let’s roll the dice , because that crap we served up last night won’t get us there .

I’d rather play Hanner’s hairy left ball before Ross again.

At the moment he's earning about $30k a kick so we might as get some value for money.

Re: Hannas back for GWS next week
If he plays will he survive the whole game or go off injured at some point during the match ?
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: Hannas back for GWS next week
Silly idea. Best case scenario he plays well and doesn't get injured and we play one finals game (based on previous efforts we will only last one game)
Worst case scenarios is he breaks down again. Not worth the risk

Re: Hannas back for GWS next week
The other option is to get Ben Long into the action more. He gets lost and I don't think he's found the balance yet like Clark, Paton & Coffield between defending and attacking. I'm all for Ben Long on half back - he has the same explosive potential we see in Gresham - but I think he might benefit from a stint on the wing if he's told to worry a little less about his man. It's probably too late to try it out.
Hannas in a forward pocket is a great idea. Kent played above himself for a couple of weeks but has returned to normal, which is insufficient, the last few weeks. Just not enough out of him. At least Lonie pressures and makes multiple efforts...at least Lonie is in the play. Kent is a real nowhere man.
Having said that, as long as we're kicking the ball to 25m out like it's kick-to-kick and seeing who out of 8 guys can mark the ball, it won't matter much who's playing...even Stephen Milne would struggle with the way we're moving the ball lately

What risk? That he gets injured and is unable to trip on the back patio of his sister's in the off season. If we get six games from him this year it's a 20% improvement on last year.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Fri 11 Sep 2020 11:24pm Silly idea. Re: Hannas back for GWS next week
As long as it’s a send off match and he agrees to retire then play him.
He was stuffed in his last year at Sydney and his on field contribution is a massive bust for us.
Work a way to get him off the playing list.
If he is a great leader, motivator & has done so much at the club etc, hire his as an assistant coach in lieu of retirement.
If all the other recruits joined because of him then hire him as a recruiter.
Just get him off the playing roster and use his money on a FA.

Re: Hannas back for GWS next week
Bailey Smith would have been handy at the moment ... the kid's a star.
I was hoping we would choose him over King.
Hannas is just too short term - and disruptive/unsettling - as he is mostly out injured.
King will be okay long term - but we were crying out, and still are - for a young gun midfielder who would have helped us straight away.
This year, Smith would have got us into the finals and given us a chance of final's success even.
A sliding door moment right there.
Hind + Kent + Lonie + Parker + Savage+ Webster for Smith?

Unfortunately they don’t show the leadership Hannas can. We should have closed out Thursday nights game but WC leaders were the ones to step up not our. Hannas is straight in if deemed fit. He actually is exactly what the club needs.

At least Hannas will give you 15-20 posessions. Even as a HF.
Play him if ready. Its do or die next week.

Re: Hannas back for GWS next week
Well he has had 40 kicks and 89 disposals this season so far.
What is his yearly salary again?
If $800,000 that is $20,000 per kick and nearly $9,000 per disposal
2 or 3 good games and that could plummet though if you want to be an optimist

I would play him. We have nothing to lose playing him in front of three muppets who shall remain unnamed.
