Trade Hypothetical - Honest question, I'm interested in what people think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Greater Western Sydney came to us and said.....
"We will give you Jye Caldwell and our FRD for Jack Billings". Would you accept their offer?

I would say yes however, in a year when the draft is (a) shallow and (b) heavily compromised with ridiculous academy and Father/Son picks - GWS' first draft pick might end up being in the early 20's. It might be about right - not quite sure - but I do know that we very much need more good ball-users; not fewer.

Nup. I doubt we'll be making any knee jerk moves based on 2020 performances for core players. Jack is a known quantity and and a better strategy would be to compliment Jack and others struggling at present with gettable qualtiy midfielders.
Billings like most can take a get out of jail free card for their performances in the Asterisk Cup. We can become more critical when the full strength comp starts again and we are judging against elite criteria.

In your dreams Sunny, why would GWS even want Jack Billings given his ordinary ratings when they have so many much better credentialed mids already.
Sure, Jye Caldwell heads my list of GoGets too but I doubt that GWS will let go of him easily despite the fact that he is out of contract.

A point to make about trading in the COVID economy, I don't think there is going to be much movement of marquee players or players looking to move for big bucks simply becuse budgets and list sizes are being slashed. I'd imagine player managers are also going to have savage haircuts to their commissions.
A lot of uncertainty about futures in the industry, not only players but everyone that earns a living from the AFL industry and it will all be revealed come October 25 I'm guessing.

No. If Carlisle cannot be in best 22 for the past two rounds (which he should easily be), they can have him. I'll throw in a few exclamation points to sweeten the deal.

I would accept it and I honestly think GWS will do this. Why you may ask. Because they want to snag a premiership before their window closes. Why would we do it you may ask. Well there are 3 reasons. First is we always wanted Jye. Second is we are still building towards the premiership window so Jye is the perfect age. Third is that we don't have a full compliment of picks this year which might hamper us with our trade targets.
So all up it's a win win.

I thought Clubs traded to go up the ladder, not down it. Caldwell would be nice, but certainly not at the expense of one of our best ball users, which we are very short of. Caldwell is not getting a game with GWS at the moment, or is he injured?
The main problem with Billings is that he is often unobtrusive. As far as I am concerned, he is in our top 3 players, behind Steele and Marshall.

I actually asked for people's opinion. Not sarcasm.takeaway wrote: ↑Mon 07 Sep 2020 5:12pm I thought Clubs traded to go up the ladder, not down it. My opinion is if your proposed unrealistic trade did occur, we would be more likely to go down the ladder next year than up it.SunnyErnest wrote: ↑Mon 07 Sep 2020 5:56pmI actually asked for people's opinion. I dont think that reply is sarcasm.....Sarcasm is "a sharp, bitter, or cutting expression or remark; a bitter gibe or taunt".
"You asked an amazing question that everyone is so keen to engage..." that my friend is sarcasm.
And no I wouldn't trade Billings.

GWS first pick would be in the teens but as Matt says there will be so much queue jumping especially for academy picks it may be around pick 20 on the night.Saintmatt wrote: ↑Mon 07 Sep 2020 1:26pm I would say yes however, in a year when the draft is (a) shallow and (b) heavily compromised with ridiculous academy and Father/Son picks - GWS' first draft pick might end up being in the early 20's. You may get a Jade Gresham at that pick or you may get an absolute waste.
So unless you think Caldwell is close to being as good as or better than Billings .......
NO

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

I thought Trade Hypothetical and Honest Question must be new James Bond characters. What a silly confected waste of exclamation marks thread actually is.
(However if it is serious, want to buy the Harbour Bridge, good first price).
Now back to watching Melbourne Ununited and Fremantle City battle it out. 1 all at half time and the coaches are furious at the two goal keeping errors.
